I opened the front door of my house. "Ladies first," I said, bowing.
"Aw, thank you." She said, walking in with a smile. "Wow, your house is huge,"
Nodding, I leaded her to our living room. "Hungry?" I asked.
"Starving," she said, holding her stomach.
"Ross, your home!"
I turned around to face my mom. "Yep, meet Laura. Laura, meet my mom."
"Nice to meet you, Laura." My mom said, offering her hand. "Nice to meet you too, ma'am." Laura said politely, shaking her hand.
"Oh please, call me Stormie, dear," mom said, pulling her hand back and walking to the kitchen.
Laura nodded with the smile never leaving since she first entered. "Your moms nice,"
"Yea, I guess she's okay," I said shrugging. "Mom! Where's the cake mix thing that Rydel keeps?"
"They're on the counter under the microwave!" mom yelled.
"C'mon," I nodded at Laura to follow me to the kitchen.
"Rydel?" Laura asked. "She's my sister. She's in college at the moment," I informed.
Taking the cake mix box from the counter, I teared it open and spread the ingredients on the kitchen table.
"Oh, chocolate! My favorite!" Laura said excitedly.
After half an hour of reading the instructions and mixing the ingredients, we were done.
"Okay, final step. Put it in the oven," Laura said, picking the plate filled with cupcake shaped pieces and opening the oven. "Don't worry. I'll set up this thing," she said, setting the temperature and timing for the oven.
"Okay, we have half an hour to kill, what do you want to do?" She asked, washing her hands.
"We can ride my motorcycle around the neighborhood," I offered and she nodded, agreeing.
"I'm back from work!"
I turned, peeking through the kitchen door and rolling my eyes.
"W-who's that?" Laura asked shyly.
"My brother, Riker. He works in a music store," I said, rolling me eyes again.
Riker was my older self, as my family would say. He was perfect in music and sports and arts. I was perfect in music and sports and arts too.
We could be twins. But Riker is older than me by 4 years and he's smarter.
Just another reason he's my dad's favorite son.
"Hey Ross, whatcha cookin'?" He asked as he entered the kitchen, then noticing Laura. "Hey there,"
I sigh, "Riker, this is Laura. Laura, this is Riker," I introduced.
"Well, Laura. Just don't mess around with Ross. I know the girls Ross date," he warned before leaving the kitchen and running upstairs.
Laura blushed and looked at me. "Just so you know, I'm not that kind of girl that messes around and stuff,"
"I kind of know that," I said with a chuckle. "I trust you,"
She walked to the oven, the blush never leaving. "We have 24 minutes, motorcycle?"
I nodded and went to the garage, Laura following me.
"We're riding this one, since it's big for both of us to sit on," I said, pointing at the big red motorcycle.
