It was the middle of the night, and Lauren wasn't even a little bit tired. They had a show tomorrow, but she couldn't find it in her to sleep.

She was hungry, though, starving, even. Crawling out of her tiny bunk and padding into the living room area of the tour bus was the only real option, she figured, wrapping a blanket around her shoulders as she snuck past the other bunks and flicked on the light, turning the dimmer down to low.

Yawning, she pulled open the refrigerator, and stared blankly at the contents.

"Lauren?" said a soft voice behind her, and Lauren almost jumped out of her skin, spinning around to see Ally curled up in the corner of the couch, looking adorable and sleepy and inviting, a pillow crushed to her chest and the Cheerios box in her hand.

"Oh my god, Ally," Lauren gasped. "You scared me."

"I'm sorry, Lo," Ally said, smiling sleepily at her. Her face was clean of makeup, her hair slightly fluffy, and Lauren found herself smiling too, softened by the sight of Ally like this.

"You've got my Cheerios," Lauren observed.

"Oh, these?" Ally said innocently, looking at the box. "No, I think these are mine, honey."

"Ally, come on," Lauren huffed, rolling her eyes.

"Don't get pouty, Lolo," Ally said, the corners of her eyes crinkling. She patted the couch next to her. "I'm fine with sharing. Come sit."

Sighing with mock exasperation, Lauren walked over, pulling the blanket off her shoulders and sitting down beside Ally, laying the soft fabric over their legs instead.

"You gonna give me some?" Lauren asked expectantly as Ally peered into the Cheerios box.

"Hold out your hand," Ally ordered, and Lauren blinked at her for a second before obeying.

Pouring a little pile of the cereal into Lauren's palm, Ally nodded with satisfaction, the corner of her mouth twitching.

"Allyson, I'm not a bird," Lauren said flatly.

"I know," Ally said, pushing Lauren's hand back towards her body. "Those are for me."

"For...for you?"

Ally nodded, and opened her mouth. Lauren frowned.

"Toss them," Ally said. "You played softball, you have good aim, right?"

Lauren grinned, covering her own mouth with her hand and suppressing a giggle.

"C'mon, Lo!"

Her eyes squinting in amusement, Lauren picked up one of the Cheerios, and tossed it, aiming for Ally's open mouth.

Ally's eyes lit up and she tilted her chin, trying to catch it, but it bounced off her nose, and she scrunched up her face, brushing it away.

"Again," Ally said, beckoning Lauren.

Biting her lower lip, Lauren turned sideways on the couch so she was facing Ally, knees bumping Ally's leg, elbow propped up on the top of the couch.

She tossed another Cheerio, this one bouncing off Ally's chin, and Ally huffed, her eyes sparkling.

"Is that the best you can do?" she challenged playfully. "Get with it, Lauren."

Her eyes narrowing, Lauren threw another, then another, and another in quick succession. Ally missed every single one, Lauren laughing more each time. Soon enough, the little pile in her palm was gone.

"You suck at this, Allycat," Lauren giggled. "You want me to keep going?"

"I'm not a quitter!" Ally exclaimed. "You better keep going. I think you should get closer, though. Your aim isn't as good as I thought it was."

"Hey!"

"Scoot over, Lo," Ally said, wiggling her fingers at Lauren.

Shrugging, Lauren pressed closer, tucking up her legs under her, almost in Ally's lap now. A piece of Ally's hair flew into her face, and she brushed it away, tucking it behind Ally's ear.

Ally looked up at her, a small smile on her lips, and offered her the cheerio box.

Lauren smiled too, her fingertips brushing over Ally's cheek. The dim light suited her, Lauren thought, gaze moving from Ally's warm eyes to her cute nose, her slightly pink cheeks and then her soft lips, pressed together as she smiled.

"Ally," Lauren said, her voice raspy and quiet.

"Yes, love?"

"Can I kiss you?" Lauren asked tentatively, caught up in how Ally's lips parted slightly in surprise, her eyebrows lifting.

"Oh," Ally murmured after a moment, the smile returning, corners of her eyes crinkling. "Yes, you can."

Lauren cradled her jaw gently, tilting her face up and leaning down slightly so their lips brushed together. The moment stretched longer and longer, Ally's breath on her lips and her eyes fluttering shut.

They weren't even kissing yet, but Lauren thought she could live in this feeling forever, Ally's warm skin under her fingers and her body so close.

"I said yes, love," Ally breathed softly.

"I know," Lauren replied, breathless. "I just wanna be here for a minute."

"Take all the time you need," Ally whispered. "I'm happy just looking at you."
