Chapter 1
“Camila, honey, get off your bed now if you don’t want to be late!” Camila’s mom called out as she lightly knocked once again on her room’s door before she left.
She gradually opened her fuzzily eyes, still half-asleep and then her hands instantly moved towards her eyes and covered them against the aching ray of the sunlight that strikes across her room. Lethargically, she shifted at her sides to take a glance on the alarm clock on top of her desk. Then rashly, she sat up from her bed and took a near glance at the alarm clock. It’s 6:30am.
“Oh shit, I can’t be late.” She shrieked to herself.
She immediately stood up and took huge steps as she headed straight to the bathroom to take a shower and just after 45 minutes, she’s already completely dressed up. After gathering all of her things for school, she promptly went down the stairs and then she saw her mom coming out from the kitchen handling two plates with fried eggs and hotdogs.
She greeted her mom with a smile on her face as she carefully took the plates from her. “Goodmorning Ma.”
“Goodmorning hon, are you excited to go to your new school?” her mom asked as they both sat on the table, while Camila just took a short deep breath and tried to smile positively at her mom in reply.
Transferring into a new school doesn’t really seem to be excited for Camila. She finds it a little bit hard to leave her old school, especially her close friends there. Although the plus side, she knew the fact that “Miami National High School” credibly offers a much better and that’s actually the only thing that had made her agree with her parents.
Camila is a 16-year-old girl living with her mom in Miami, Florida. She’s just a simple and ordinary girl, living a simple life. She got the looks, although she’s really insecure about that. She’s a smart girl.
Camila just took a quick bite because she doesn’t want to be late on her first day at her new school. “I’m going now, see you later.” She stood up and kissed her mom’s forehead. She swiftly took her things and got ready to go.
She took a cap and said to him where to go, the driver seemed to be in his 30s. He kindly smiled at her and stopped the car. She paid him and considerately smiled back before she went out.
Her eyes vigilantly wandered around the wide vicinity of the school. All classrooms were neatly painted in light blue. Students are all around getting ready for their class while some are already inside their own classrooms and chatting while waiting for their classes to start. Then suddenly, while she was walking down the hall, her eyes met a girl with angelic green eyes. She shortly tossed her naturally brown, slightly curly, and shiny hair that faintly covers her faces caused by the gentle draft of the wind, as she cautiously made another glance at the girl. It’s as if the girl’s eyes are wedged her direction. She paused from walking for a moment and slightly turned to check her sides, then her back but there is no one else around beside her. She anxiously looked back at the girl and then she just intended to continue walking. However as she became closer at the girl’s direction, the girl approached her, smiling, so she nicely smiled back.
“Hi.”
“H-Hi” she replied a little diffidently. The fact of her, not usually as timid like this, had made her somewhat surprise with herself.
“You’re a new student right? I presumed, ‘Cause I’ve only seen you here just now.” The girl said with a sweet smile on her angelic face.
“Uh.. Y-Yeah..” she shortly replied as she unconsciously watched her smile.
Then all of the sudden, she remembered that she still had to submit her credentials to the registrar’s office before going to her first class.
She shortly looked at her wristwatch “Hey I’m sorry, but I got to go now.” Camila anxiously muttered as she vaguely gestured her way to the registrar’s office.
“Oh okay.. See you around.” The girl replied, still sweetly smiling.
Camila just apprehensively smiled back and then she started walking away and went straight to the registrar’s office but for some extremely strange reason, the girls face is still flashing on her mind.
After she had submitted her credentials to the registrars office, she immediately went to search for her classroom and when she found where her classroom was, she instantly looked at her wristwatch; she only has 2 minutes left before their class would start. She walks in, and then everyone vigilantly looked at her direction. She uneasily roved her eyes around to find any vacant sit and then to her surprise, she saw the girl, she met at the hallway earlier sitting at the left corner and was talking to a guy.
“So it seems, we’re going to be on the same class.” She mumbled to herself.
“Oh hey” the girl suddenly muttered when she saw her as the guy left, and then she kindly smiled at her.
“Hi, is this sit taken?” Camila anxiously asked while slightly pointing on the vacant chair at the end, which is next to the girl.
“Nope, go on and have a sit.” The girl replied still smiling.
“Thanks..” Camila shortly replied as she sat and put her things down.
“Goodmorning class.” Professor Montgomery as she suddenly came in and then asked Camila to stand next to her.
“Class, I want you all to meet your new classmate. Miss Cabello, will you please introduce yourself to us?” requested professor Montgomery.
“Hi.. I’m Karla Camila Cabello, you can just call me Camila. I’m 16 years old.” Camila said as she let out a smile and then everyone nicely smiled back at her.
After their class she decided to go to the canteen to grab some lunch. She suddenly felt starving because she didn’t eat that much.
“that would be 7 dollars.” Said the lady cashier at the school’s canteen, wearing a checkered emerald green uniform with her hair neatly coupled with a hairnet.
Camila took her wallet, then she handed the lady 50 dollar.
“Do you have any smaller bill miss?” Asked the lady.
She was looking in her wallet for a smaller bill from her allowance that her dad had gave her but all she had was some coins, and only higher bills.
“Here.”
As she heard the voice from her back, she swiftly turned and she saw the same girl that she met earlier, handing a 20 dollar bill to the lady.
“Plus mine.” The girl added as she sweetly smiled at her.
She smiled back. “Thanks… Here.” Camila said as she handed the 50 dollar bill to the girl.
“No need.. It’s okay. Let’s just say, it’s my treat.” Said the girl, still smiling.
