To start, let me just say that above is not my art. If I do post art of my own, I will credit it to myself. I do not own this art. However, the dream written below is written by myself alone. I do own that, at least.
Dream One:
It was different, really. I never suspected to actually live on my own. It was a two story house. However, I could only look about what I suspect was my room and the attic. I was down stairs, sitting atop my bed when I felt myself become bored.
I decided to read. So, I made my way passed a few shelves in the hall, I presumed a collection of Novels I completed, and up the stairs. There was another flight of stairs leading to a line door at the top. I suspect that my intention was to grab a book and leave, but as I drew nearer, the air grew fresher.
This feels so real.
I have learned over the years how to detect a dream. I knew I must've stayed up here quite a bit, for I could see the light from a dancing flame from underneath the door. I reached for the knob, twisted it, and opened the door. At first, I looked past the Bookshelf and towards the window. The moonlight was peeking in, the back of the room dark, the window open, and-- There wasn't a sound in the world.
I attempted to step towards the door when I noticed teeth behind a few scattered books on the shelf. It was nearly empty, so seeing through it wasn't too difficult.
I halted, focusing my eyes on the beast before screaming, "No!"
I am not sure why I had spoken out, but I knew he had already spotted me, for he pushed the shelf over and charged me. I didn't have time to react and shut the door. So, I made a run for it. I made it at the bottom of the first flight of stairs. I could hear him panting, and as I worked my way down the second, I looked back.
Those movies, when the girl trips because she turns back, always has people wondering why she did it? She already knew what was behind her, but she turned back anyway.
You never know until you're in such a situation, why. One only wants to check the distance between themselves and their predator, and so I did. When I checked however, I missed a step, three steps away from the ground, and it lunged. It forced me onto my back and I hit my head.
I winced.
Why does this hurt?
A dream isn't supposed to feel this real. But-- Mine always do. My vision was blurred. I peered up and it focused. As it cleared up, I met bright yellow eyes gazing into my own. I began to tremble. I felt so weak. It had its humanoid hands about my wrist forcing me to the ground. It straddled my hips with its legs, and when I turned to study something else, I caught a glimpse of its full form. It had the head of a wolf, the torso of a man, and the hind legs of a humanoid beast. It was clearly a male. I couldn't quite miss it. As I turned to peer out of a sliding door window in what I assume was a kitchen, I could see our reflection. It lifted its hand, and just as I thought it was going to strike, it turned my head towards it. It forced me to meet its gaze.
It was a genuine touch, really. However, I couldn't stop shaking. It bared its teeth before lunging forward, and as I close my eyes, I felt it's muzzle wrap about my throat.
I bolted up from the dream. My bed was a mess and my hair was disheveled. I was sweating, as if I was truly running. I wrapped my fingers around my neck because I could still feel a tinge of pain.
Why?Well, that's it for Dream number one. These experiences are quite horrifying, and perhaps-- Individuals who suffer the same condition are willing to collaborate by offering up a dream of their own? I'll gladly post and tag you in them. Halloween is coming quite quickly, so-- This book of Nightmares seems very fitting.
