Angie quickly ran into the closet and closed the door until it left only a crack. The little girl was playing hide and seek, her favorite game, with her older brother Philip. She thought she was rather good since her brother couldn't seem to find her during some games.
She heard footsteps and knew it was her brother. She giggled quietly as she peered out of the crack, looking at her brother as he walked into the room. Philip walked around, looking for any sign of movement.
Philip turned and looked towards the closet, and Angie let out a small laugh and backed into the darkness. Philip smiled to himself, knowing where his sister was. "I wonder where little Angie could be?" He said loudly. "She's rather good at hiding from me."
He slowly walked to the bed, got on his knees, leaned over, and peered underneath. As the desolate area greeted him, Angie smiled to herself. She found a good hiding spot.
Philip then walked over to the curtains and wrapped his arms around them. Pulling them t his chest and flattening them, signaling no one was hiding there, Philip sighed dramatically. "Where could she be?"
Angie stepped back and accidentally hit her elbow on the wall. She gasped softly and looked up. She knew Philip must've heard her, for it was a rather loud hit.
Philip glanced at the closet and walked towards it. He smiled as he reached for the door handle, while Angie stepped back, eyes widening, as she was about to be found.
Turning the door handle, the brother yanked it open. Angie shrieked and ran out giggling. Philip laughed as his sister ran out of the room to avoid getting caught. After closing the closet door, he walked out of the room to see Angie standing in the hall smiling.
"You found a good spot." Philip chuckled to his younger sister.
"I always find good spots." Angie smirked, placing her arms behind her back.
"Keep telling yourself that." Philip took a step towards her. "It's mine turn to hide now."
Angie's smile disappeared. "One more round with me hiding? Pleeeeaaasssseeeee?" Her voice went up an octave as she dragged out the syllables of "please".
Philip shook his head. But before he could respond, Angie said, "Yay! Thank you Philip!" She turned around, acting as if her brother has said yes to another round.
Philip sighed. "I haven't started counting yet, Angie."
She ignored him, and went straight to the end of the hall, to a closed door. Philip's eyes widened as she reached for the door handle to the study, where their father was working.
"Angelica!" He hissed, trying not to be too loud, but it was too late, for she had opened the door and entered.
Philip ran in after her and almost ran into Angie, for she stood in the doorway looking at their father. He had been writing something, for he had a pan in his hand, but was looking at Angie.
"Is something wrong?" He asked. Angie nodded as Philip shook his head, and Alexander noted their different reactions. Leaning towards his daughter, Alex asked, "Angelica, my little girl, what is wrong?"
"I'm bored playing with Philip." At the sound of this, Philip stopped himself before he could roll his eyes at his little sister.
"You should play with us," Angie said as she rested her hand on the desk and slowly leaned over her father's work. Alexander laughed a little before replying, "Angie, my dear, I can't. I have too much work to do, and Philip's already playing with you."
"Take a break from your work then. Play with us!" Angie said as if it was the most obvious thing to do. Philip smiled a bit, recalling how their mother has begged for their father to pause his work and enjoy his family, but he almost always denies.
Alexander took off his glasses and wiped the lens on his shirt. "I wish it was that easy, my dear. But I have too much work and too little amount of time..." He placed the glasses back on his face and looked to see his daughter looking up to him with a sad face. Alexander looked over at his son, who was looking at the floor, and sighed. Looking back at Angie, he slowly smiled and started counting. "One... Two... Three..."
Angie squealed as her father continued counting, and her brother followed her out of the room, the two siblings eager to find a hiding spot.
Hi guys.
