Mercury Labs-Floor 4-Lab 206
I watched eagerly through my lab window, I could see all of Central City from where I was standing, and I had a clear view of the Particle Accelerator at Star Labs. I possibly had the best view of the Particle Accelerator out of everyone at Mercury Labs, high up enough to see the very top of Star Labs, and right in the middle of the building. It was perfect. The Particle Accelerator was supposed to change the world, save it even. Cleaner, greener, more efficient energy Dr.Wells had said. Everyone at Mercury Labs envied Star Labs, although no one showed it, I knew they did. I had the countdown set up on my laptop, but I wasn't looking at it, I was looking at Star Labs. I counted down in my head, 5...4...3...2...1. Nothing happened for a second, then a bright orange light beamed out of Star Labs, reaching above the clouds and illuminating the sky with a fiery glow. I stood in awe for a moment, amazed by this otage beam of light. Then I saw it, the beam of light was spreading out in a dome shape, it looked like a shockwave. I stepped back a bit, slightly terrified of what was coming. I shook my head, "It's fine. It's supposed to happen." I told myself, but I knew it wasn't true. It got closer and closer until it was only an inch away. I screamed as it hit me, throwing me backwards into the chemicals on my table, that I was using to freeze items with just a touch of an icecube. Then everything went dark.
The Particle Accelerator was supposed to change the world.
It sure did.
