Episode 5: Maid Latte

Sitting in my father's office I sip at the coffee a woman gave to me to drink.

"Every Monday and Tuesday." My father tells me the days which I will have to work for now on, the pay is a lot of money. 

"I can do that." I mumble.

"My beautiful child, I welcome you." My father smiles which makes me frown.

I've never liked my father. He is a selfish and foolish man who shows no condolence. Especially when mum died. 

"You'll start next week?" He asks me and I nod in reply.

My father frowns at me and looks down for a moment seeming to be thinking hard. His eyes reach to the silver clock on the wall which make him stand up "Let me take you to get something to eat."

"I don't want to eat with you." I say bluntly standing up "I'm going to get the train home and have ramen..."

"Then at least let me drive you." My father reaches for my wrist and takes hold of it.

I yank my wrist away from him "Fine. Just don't touch me..."

Father smiles at me and leads me the way to the stairs.

I'm now part of the model buisness. 

Sitting on the sofa I gawk at the wall not sure what to do with myself since it's Saturday. Standing up I pink and white shirt, the white at the top and pink on the bottom, a pair of light blue shorts and a blue bow necklace. Grabbing my brown bag I put my shoes on and leave the apartment. 

I'm going to Maid Latte.

"H-Hotaru!" Misaki rushes over to me when entering the staff room/changing room.

Grabbing a maid outfit on I sigh and turn to Misaki "I don't care if I don't get paid, I need something to do." I say.

"A-Ah okay... Remember what I told you?" She asks me.

"Hai." I nod once and leave the staff room feeling already foolish but I'm getting everybody's attention.

"SERVE ME!!" A table of boys wave at me making me sigh.

Placing a glass of water on a table with two woman, they both give me smiles and I smile in return. Turning around I here whispering about me.

"Is she a new maid?"

"Of course not! She has to be a model! I mean... Just look how stunning she is!" 

Gripping hold of the silver tray I frown and I here the door open of Maid Latte, turning around with the biggest fake smile in the world I say "Welcome Mas-"

"Ru-Tan?" Raiden raises and eyebrow in surprise making me feeling like I am shrinking.

"A-A-A-A-A-A-A-Ah.... Hi?"

He looks at me for a long moment before his eyes water up and he burst out laughing.

Clenching my teeth I grip his right ear and pull him into the staff from.

He chuckles.

"Shut up." I hit him across the head but he doesn't stop smiling which makes me blush brightly.

"Do you work here Ru-Tan?" He asks me.

"I was bored... So I decided to work here for a while." I say "I don't care if I get paid or not."

"Kida-Chan?"

"Hai?"

Raiden reveals a get camera "Can I take a picture?"

Rolling my eyes I say "Whatever you want. Just one!"

"Hai!" Raiden smiles and wraps his arm around my shoulder tightly taking a picture of us.

Me and Raiden stand opposite on the train, Raiden humming a little tune to himself, he nods his head gently with his eyes shut.

I watch him for a long time and I want to reach out and ruffle his hair but I don't. Instead I look out of the window of the train watching the trees and houses past by.

"Want me to get you ramen?"

Turning to a couple sitting on the train the girl giggles and nods and the boy reaches for her hands holding him gently with his.

"Hotaru."

Turning to Raiden he looks down to me.

Hoping for what he is going to say he says "Staring is rude."

It feels like a massive bolder has fallen onto my shoulders with a massive piece of writing saying 'RUDE'.

Pouting I look away from him blushing once again.

"Want me to get you ramen Kida?"

Turning to Raiden in surprise I feel my face turning bright red and I look away from him once again "O-Okay. Whatever you want."

He smiles and looks out of the train window also.

Sitting at the ramen shop I eat it quietly to myself and try not to act like a pig. I have been feeling ravenous all day.

"So comical Ru-Tan." Raiden smiles at me and crams the noodles into his mouth making the sauce go everywhere.

Grabbing a tissue I wipe my face "At least I don't show my greediness." 

 "At least I don't like about it." Raiden says in return and rest his chin on his hand giving me a cheeky smile making me blush once again.

Slamming down my chopsticks I stand "I better get home."

"You haven't finished yet." Raiden points to my bowl.

I sigh and look away to where the door is "I'm not hungry."

My stomach fails me as it start rumbling loudly and I quickly sit down and pick up the chopsticks again and start cramming the noodles in mouth.

Fat.

Ugly.

Freak.

Worthless.

The tears start falling from my eyes at the past memories, the noodles which were cram hang from my mouth and I see Raiden gawking at me.

"Hotaru..."

I rub my eyes as I cry, the past memories. Hurt. 

Sitting on the swing I look at Raiden's back, sniffing I look awaay "I was bullied a lot. I called a lot of things. I didn't have a good house life either, mum died... When I was 6... Cancer."

I saw Raiden's back tense up before looking over to my sadly.

"My father didn't care. He doesn't care about anyone but himself." I say "I hate him!"

"I killed my father."

My eyes widen at the words I just heard come from Raiden's mouth. Looking up to Raiden he looks at me emotionless.

"It was an accident. He was going to shoot my mum" He says "So I shoved him, he fell and..."

"Where were you?" I asked

"On a roof." He looks away "It haunts me all the time..." 

Frowning I jump from the swing and walk beside him and grab him hand awkwardly "L-Let me take you home this time!"

He looks down to me and chuckles "Don't be stupid"

I pout "I'm not!!"

"Are~"
