The last thing their small band remembered was falling over the rails of Niagara Falls. They knew there would be no surviving this one. All of a sudden a huge force of great Mother Nature had sucked them deep into the water and they started to float upward. The group tried to help the force by thrashing their hands and feet around in a swimming like motion. The Lake, or whatever the body of water was, spewed them out dry land. They all sputtered and spit out the water that had built up in their lungs.
"Holy crap! Where are we." A boy about fifteen nearly screamed, his voice shaking out of control. His blond hair sticking to his face and his ice blue eyes frightened into near colorlessness.
A girl who looked about a year older pushed her long scarlet ringlets out of her face and peered across the dark forest with her emerald green eyes. She tried with all her might to keep her body from trembling from the scare she had faced from the transition.
"I have no clue but it seems we aren't in New York watching the falls light show anymore."
Another child no older than six sat there whimpering. Then suddenly her almond eyes were brimming with tears and she started to sob. A million crocodile tears ran down her little oval face. Her hair still hung in dripping black strings. The redhead came over and help her as her body racked with her cries.
Then a Boy with brown hair down to his grey eyes yelled out a random shout and said.
"Well I think we should run around screaming, maybe someone will hear us!"
"Be quiet Riko. Who knows what kind of things are around here."
"Both of you shut up.Sära is scared enough as it is and you two fighting is not going to help that."
"Your right Cäri I know but we really do need help."
"Yes I know Rylem but Sära is still young I know she doesn't act it since she was put with us she acts more mature than she really is." Cäri looked down to the young child who has cried herself to sleep. She looks up and realizes it is dark out.
"We should probably make a camp for tonight and try and find our way home tomorrow."
Rylem piped up and said, "Uh Cäri I really don't think its night time."
Then a small still voice that sounded as beautiful as a brook running over the rocks of a stream spoke. It was so quiet we nearly couldn't hear it.
"Your friend is correct. It is daytime here. Are you from the other world?"
She spat out other world as if it was a vile disease.
"Who are you!? Who's out there?!"
"I am called Catta. I am the protector of mortals from the other world."
"You know the other world has a name. It's called Earth and we want to go back!"
"I am afraid that will not be possible. You see we have a method here, all humans are taken to Caementum Serilis, where they are tested of their worth to stay here in Dawn and be like the rest of us. If they have the ability and are chosen they may stay if not then they must go back to their miserable wretched lives back in the other world."
Cäri, Rylem, and Riko peered at the direction the voice was coming from. Then a girl no older than Riko stepped into that view. They sat there gawking at her trying to figure out what she really was. Her ears were like any she had ever seen until you reached the top then they were pointed like the ancient Faeries of old. She had hair the color of the first rays of sunlight. It hung in long flowing tresses all the way down to her ankles. She had on a blue dress that hung on her like the petals of a flower. Her feet, however, were bare. She stood about two feet taller than Sära.
