Ok it’s the first day of my sophomore year. I’m so sad because my mom isn’t here but I have to get through it for her and my daughter. I’m so dang big. I can’t wait to welcome my daughter into the world. I walked down the hall and everybody was looking at me. Then this boy came up to me and said, “Monica your baby is going to be loved and a beautiful little girl. I’m so sorry for your lost.” Then he walked off. I didn’t know who he was but he knew me. Then I saw David and he was looking mad. I said, “What’s wrong baby? Are you ok”? He didn’t say anything. He punched the wall and said, “I’m going to kill Markus. That bitch ass nigga said he hope we lose our baby. I don’t care what happens to me right now.” I said, “What if you go to jail? Who is going to be there for me and our child? Who is going to help me with her”? He just looked at me like I was crazy. “Baby don’t kill that boy. He ain’t even worth it. I got him believe me I do”, I said with anger in my voice. I walked to his locker and said, “You one stupid muthafucker. No one likes you. The only reason that people hang out with you because you get your friends in football games for free. If I hear one more person say you said you hope me and David lose our baby. You won’t have to worry about nothing but how the hell you gonna get my foot you’re ass. I will kick your ass Markus. You know I will do it, try me.” Then I went into my class and saw the boy who said that Markus wouldn’t be faithful. He looked at me and said, “Monica I’m happy you dumped that stupid ass nigga and got a good dude. Now you about to have a little girl and you know who her dad is unlike some of the girls here. Monica you are a super smart girl. You’re going to be a great mother.” I started crying and then he hugged me. I said, “I’m sorry about what I said last year. I’m glad you ain’t like him because he is a real asshole. Anyway, I have never known your name. What is it?” He smiled and said, “Branderious Jackson. You’re ok I know you thought he was a good guy. How many months are you now, if you don’t mind me asking”? I said, “I’m due next month. I’m having a girl and her name is going to be Deanna Renée Smith.” Everyone hugged me and told me that I would be a great mother. I started crying so bad. Then David walked in my class and said, “Mon can I talk to you right quick”? I walked to him asked, “What’s up baby?” He said, “My mom invited us over and she has a surprise for us”. I was like, “Ok baby that’s fine with me”. So I went to the rest of my classes. Then after the last bell rung I went to wait for David. He scared me because I didn’t see him come up behind me. We got in his brother car and went to the house. I didn’t know what to wear because I didn’t know what we were going to be doing. I picked my rainbow sundress and my black baby doll shoes. I went and asked David how do I look and he said, “You look beautiful baby, very beautiful”. Then he grabbed a box off the dresser but I didn’t know what was in it so I didn’t ask. We drove to his mom’s house. She came out and said, “Hey sweetie, how are you feeling because it’s getting close to your due date?” I said, “I feel fine big but fine. I can’t wait to see my baby girl for the first time in person. Be able to hold her, kiss her, and look in her big eyes because me and David’s eyes are big.” She said, “They are kind of big no gigantic. Did you know that David’s nickname was Fly”? David turned five million different colors and said, “Ma you said you would tell nobody that.” I said, “It’s cute plus it as better than my old nickname.” He was like, “What was it baby?” I looked around and said, “Bumblebee, my mom said I looked like a bumblebee when I was born, I was two different colors.” We all started laughing and from that day on that was my nickname aging and Fly was David’s. Than after dinner David stood up and came up to me and said, “Monica can you come her for a second please?” I was looking like what I did and why is he telling me to come here. I walked over there and then he got on one knee. I started crying and didn’t know what to do because I knew what he was about to do. He said, “Monica you know I love you with all my heart and soul. I want to be with you for the rest of my life. I don’t want anyone else but you. We are about to have a little girl together and I want us to be a real family so baby will you marry me?” I froze up and then I said, “We are too young plus I need my mom to sign for me to get married and she is died. Plus your mom does too.” He handed me a piece of paper and I looked at it and it had his mom and my mom signatures on it and it was dated three months ago. I looked at him and his mother and said, “David you been wanting to marry me?” He said, “Yes, I want to ask you on your 16th birthday but it was too sad. OMG baby is the only thing I could say at the time. Then he said, “Is it a yes or a no”? I looked at him and said, “Yes, a million times yes”. I couldn’t believe I was engaged to the love of my life and the father of my unborn child. I called up Jennifer and Tiffany. I just started screaming and crying at the same time. I looked a damn fool. Then Tiffany said, “Girl stop yelling and screaming in our ears and say whatever you want to tell us.” I said, “I’m engaged yall. David just asked me to marry him. Girl I froze up like water on a cold winter day.” Then Tiffany asked the craziest question on God’s Green Earth, “Girl well did you say yes?” I looked at the phone and said, “Crazy girl I said I’m engaged , so what do that mean”?
