Pain. That was the first thing I remember, the constant burning of not being able to breath, the fire that cascaded me as I was swallowed by darkness. It was the only thing I rememered from my life before I became the thing I am today. Well, maybe I was always like this, I wouldn't know since it was pain that I remembered from that life. I remember after being swallowed by the darkness I was floating, I couldn't move or talk but I could see and all I could see was the blackness that was around me, I could feel things moving around me, whispering quietly, making sounds that I didn't know what they belonged too. It was enough to spread fear throughout my being as I simply stayed floating, waiting for something to happen. Nothing did, and so time went by, leaving me in the same spot, the darkness becoming a comfort once I knew that nothing could harm me here, the firey pain I remembered not being able to follow me. It was something that I was glad about, something that I could hold onto to make my time in the darkness bearable. My time in the darkness was a lonely one but I knew that I was there for a reason, and I remember clearly the slight panic I felt as I was ripped from that darkened place and into a room filled with light, the slight pain that returned as I gasped for breath that I didn't need at that time.

That was the day I was reborn, the day I ended up meeting my brother in a way, that was what he always told me. We were both created by the same person, the same darkness and we looked the same. He had white hair with a black hat, wearing a black tunic, a black belt, boots and white leggings. His eyes were a glowing red, it reminded me of fire, the way his eyes seemed to flicker with emotions, the red. His eyes were fire, while mine were red also, but not in his way. I had a crimson red, the color of blood...they didn't glow like his did, they weren't covered by white locks but instead, they were covered with dirty blonde hair. I could remember feeling agitated that my brother wore the darker colors, the colors of darkness while I simply wore a dirty green tunic, a brown belt, ripped leggings and a green hat to match his. We were the same but different.

That was the day I was called Ben and given my sole purpose. To kill the Hero of Time.

I could laugh now at the thought, that someone could actually kill Link, he was a hero for a reason...he always won, always got to be the publics favoirte person while Dark and I were left in the dust, given mercy to live but untrusted with many strict rules to follow. Dark wasn't happy with what happened, but it wasn't something he could deal with, I knew that he ended up helping Link in the defeat of our creator, despite his objections of doing so...and I knew the real reason why he wasn't happy. He had helped with destroying the person who gave us life only to be treated like dirt for doing so, but life went on, Dark and I ended up moving into some abandoned house on the out skirts of Hyrule, closer to the bridge incase our creator ever rose again we could both make a haste escape and go join him once again, but for now...we both did our best.

Being born of darkness,  came the urges..the urges to kill, to make people pay for what they did...it wasn't easy surpassing those urges, and Dark and I both knew that it was Ganondorf feeding those urges from his slumber, reminding us of what we were if one of us started to feel like we could be good, that since we were based off of the Hero of Time, we could also be heros. Those thoughts and feelings never strayed far, but I knew that it could never be...and I knew that Dark knew that also.

Despite people disliking us, they did use us for many things, we were the only things that could easily wander into the darker parts of forest without being attacked too much, they would send us to do their dirty work in those woods..grab certain things for them, make sure nothing to dangerous came close if Link was to busy to do that himself. Dark did most of that work, he stated that since he was the oldest, being born/created first he would have do the jobs...which left me with nothing to do but allow my thoughts and emotions to over come me, causing me to get into trouble.

Which is what lead me to being chased around town, bloody tears dripping down my face as I now supported a few bruises on my arms and face, blood dripped from cuts on my hands and knees as I soon became surrounded by guards.

"Back off!" I snarled, my red eyes peering at them with anger. I had done nothing wrong and yet they thought chasing me around Hyrule was a good idea, "Shouldn't you be keeping an eye on Zelda?"

The guards didn't listen, but instead glanced at each other, talking silently between looks before one of them turned to stare at me.

"Was that a threat demon?"

"Maybe! You don't know what could happen..maybe Ganondorf has risen..maybe you'll all die!" I replied, more bloody tears dripping down my face, as I let my anger control me and my words.

Swords and bows were pointed at me after I finished that sentence, but I couldn't care less, if they killed me they would have to deal with Dark, and he was a lot more dangerous than me if he wanted to be. I shifted a bit, keeping the snarl on my face as I struggled to find an opening,  I wasn't good with the powers that Ganondorf had given me, I couldn't teleport like Dark could...we were practicing that, but it didn't do me any good.

"He threatened the Princess, get him!" One of the guards yelled and lunged at me, I quickly moved out of the way and rushed towards the exit of the alley when I saw the chance, but I simply didn't make it. Yelling out at the pain flaring through me I dropped, panic hitting me as I remembered the pain from my time before being reborn. Blood dripped down my back, a new gash from a sword at my attempt to escape capture.  Shaking I still went to run before being grabbed and forced into chains. Struggling and screaming in anger I kicked before hearing yells and being thrown backwards. Another cry escaped my mouth as my back landed onto the cement hard, my head banging off the ground as well. Spots filled my vision as I slowly started to fall unconscious.  The last thing I heard was a familiar voice yell.

"Ben!"
