No Apparent Reason

"You blinked!" I yelled at Kyle as he recovers and pretends he's had his eyes open all along.

"Did not." He leans back in his chair and crosses his arms.

"Did too." I say, mirroring his pose.

"Did not."

"Did too."

"Did not."

"Did too."

"Did too."

Silence.

"Aha! Nope, that stuff doesn't work on me." I rub into Kyle's face, proud of my achievement of outsmarting him once again. "You just played yo self." I voice DJ Khaled.

"Whatever Autumn. I'm still better than you at volleyball." Kyle closes his chemistry book as the bell rings.

"Okay, what does volleyball have to do with this?" I zip my backpack up."And we both know very well that I can win you at a match of volleyball any day."

"Alright, keep telling yourself that Autumn." Kyle rolls his eyes as he opens the classroom door and holds it open long enough for me to get out.

"One day, Kyle. One day." I reassure him. Kyle gives me a smirk but it immediately disappears the minute he spots someone coming towards him.

"Hey babe!" Jenny, Kyle's girlfriend, squeals as she grabs his arm, pulling him close. Kyle gives her a quick peck on the cheek and avoids my eye.

"Hey Jenny." I smile widely at her. Her eyes travel onto me which only causes her to beam even more.

"Autumn! Hi girl!" Jenny lifts her hand in a little wave before pulling on her boyfriends arm. "We've gotta go, but I'll see you in history!"

I lift my hand to wave, trying to catch Kyle's eye. Sadly, I do not succeed. Kyle seems to always avoid me whenever Jenny is around and I'm there as well. I guess he's so loyal to her to the point where he doesn't want her to see him interacting with another girl.

That's okay I guess. Unfortunate, but okay.

Suddenly, I feel a rush of exhaustion and emptiness wash over me. And now all I really want to do is go home and sleep. I blur out my vision of the long-narrow hall as I make my way to Sam's locker. Though my vision is still intentionally blurred, I make out three figures and I know that she's already there waiting for me with Sally and Savannah.

"Hey." I give them a small smile once I reach the locker, setting my eyes back into focus.

"Hey!" They each say almost at the exact same time. Sally looks me straight in the eye then leans forward. "Whats wrong?" She asks.

"Yeah," Savannah also examines me with her bright blue eyes. "You seem a little down."

"I don't know," I shrug as I slump my shoulders. "I'm just suddenly having one of those weird moods. Where one second I'm fine and the next second I'm not feeling that okay for no reason."

"Ah. The famous 'Autumn Haze'." Sam raises her eyebrows and set her mouth in a straight, sympathetic smile.

I feel a sudden itch to just take out my earphones from my bag and listen to my music to block the world out. I need to be in my own bubble for a little bit. I'm not really in the mood for interactions. Usually when I'm in this type of mood, everything that is normally slightly annoying to me becomes extremely annoying. And all my frustration for the world doubles.
