Sylvester's POV (these keep coming now)
The exchange between Alpha Caleb and Delphi had surprised me. Delphi's voice held so much passion and happiness towards the occurrences in his life.
She never spoke to me nor of me that way but I believe I never gave her a reason to.
Finding Delphi showed to be a tough task but when you're an Alpha of a pack, it is easy to know the whereabouts of your pack members.
Hearing two voices outside a worn out cottage I was immediately alerted but after a while I knew it was Alpha Caleb, though, that didn't calm my worries.
I had given a talk to myself about this, being possessive when I had no right to be. But my wolf thought it irrelevant to hold his tongue when someone was near Delphi.
Delphi's change is emotions, expression and the light in her eyes was understood by me. I had given her enough things to hate me for and seemingly, haven't found an undo button yet.
I had come here again to talk to her, see if she lets me in this time. I knew what I had done was impossible to forget and if I were in her place I'd feel the same but I also needed her.
I regretted a lot of things in my life but my first interaction with my mate being the worst regret of them all. I was being cowardly, as she had pointed out. Hiding behind excuses to not man up and be there for her as her mate.
My normal methods to woo her didn't work and doing something extraordinary was my job.
And I would do it for her, anything for her.
After hearing that Alpha Caleb had indeed found her mate I felt an emotion I've been feeling for the past couple of weeks, guilt.
He took plenty jabs at me and I knew why, he cared for her a way she wished I did. The way her eyes lit up when she heard he had found his mate ensured me that she was still the Delphi who believed in love and I was thankful that I hadn't killed her.
I stepped inside the small undeveloped house and cringed seeing the conditions she had to live in because of me, or so I thought.
I was analysing the difference between the decorations when I saw something wrapped up.
"What is that?" I stepped forward and reached out my hand to see the damage but she immediately stepped back.
"Something that is none of your concern." Her brave voice covered the slight wavering of her tone but I chose to not push it.
"I really am sorry, Delphi." I spoke sincerely trying to get through her tough exterior. Apologising doesn't come easy to Alpha's, it isn't our place to state our decisions were wrong. A whole group of people looked up to us.
"Well, sorry didn't cover it yesterday and it will not cover it tomorrow." She stated, her eyes staring back at me with no emotion.
"Tell me what I can do, please." She seemed to consider my words.
"Actually, you can do something," she paused looking at me, a little hope bubbled in me. "You can work on staying out of my life."
I knew it wouldn't have been easy and it shouldn't be either. But I still hoped she would understand. Understand why I was the way I was.
"Look, Sylvester, I'm working to make myself better. Stop hindering my efforts."
"I want to help you, too." And I did. I knew she was going through a lot and part reason because of me.
"Really? You, the person who didn't want a mate, wants to help his mate get better. Don't make me laugh, Alpha." Dark. Her words were harsh but her tone was dark; bruised.
