17 year old Kate sat in the waiting room, dying to be called. She had been sitting here for an hour, but to her, it felt like a lifetime. The "APPLE CO." sign on the wall felt mockery.
A woman's voice suddenly echoed throughout the room, "Kathrine Bale?"
"Finally." Kate mumbled, gathering her things and following the woman down a long hallway. They reached a door and the woman gestured for Kathrine to go through. Inside, was a table with a tools and small pieces of machinery. There was, in fact, a chair, so Kate sat. After about twenty more minutes of waiting, someone walked in. He was wearing a large lab coat and latex gloves, and was holding a clipboard.
"Dominique?" Kate asked, surprised. He looked up from his clipboard and his eyes grew wide.
"Kate?" He asked. I nodded.
"How long has it been now?" He was still shocked from seeing his childhood friend.
"Seven years," I replied .
"Why are you here? It says that in this room, there should be a voluntary Time Travel test subject."
Kate chuckled. "That's me you idiot! Now show me how it works." She gestured to the table. He gulped.
"You do know that this is very life threatening." He informed her.
"I know! Now send me through the portal thingy or however the hell you do it." Dominique reluctantly pulled out a necklace. It was light blue, and had many different diamonds surrounding the main gemstone.
"This is a very valuable necklace. The main stone is a sapphire, the rest are diamonds. It cost thousands of dollars to make this. Don't break it." He said.
"So the magic, flying dellorian has become the heavy, expensive collar. Ya know, I'm not really the 'jewelry type,'" Kate replied.
"Well, too bad, because this is the time travel machine." He carefully tapped the sapphire gem, and it opened, like a small door. Inside, was a screen.
"We used an Apple Watch screen for this. It should be easy to use. Type in your destination."
Kate did what she was told. She typed it exactly as it was on the clipboard.

"Do you remember your mission?"he asked her. She rolled her eyes.
"Of course I do! I've been planning this for months. Now how does this work?"
"I'm not allowed to show you until you change clothes." He said. It made since. Going into a completely different time period with shorts and a T-Shirt was probably not the smartest idea. He went to the corner, and pulled out a suitcase. It was brown, big, and slightly polished. He pulled out a dress and tossed it to me.
"These were meant to look exactly like a first class passenger's clothing." He said. Kate began taking her clothes off.
"Turn around!" She yelled at him. He did as he was told. Once she had the dress on, which was very uncomfortable, she grabbed the necklace and put it on. She quickly did her hair up in a bun and put on the little hat that the outfit came with. A full sized mirror was rolled into the room, and Kate hated what she saw. The dress was a royal blue color, which she didn't mind, but had a large skirt that she could barely get through the door in. Her hat was also royal blue, but it had a black feather in it. She put the necklace on as well. It surprisingly matched.

The shoes were the worst part though

The shoes were the worst part though. They were really snug, but just good enough that she could walk in them. She hated heels. They were made by the devil himself, and she just knew that this had to be so with these monstrosities on her feet.
"Alright. I'm ready," she said, holding her suitcase in one hand. She closed the sapphire, as instructed, and pressed down firmly. It snapped shut and instantly, the room began to dissolve, and she was falling.
