I sit at the dinner table with Mr. Rainier and I can't help but think about the video call with my boss.  He made it very clear that he had no faith in me.  He doesn't care if I die on this ship.  He only wants his stupid data.  Over text, he asked me earlier to call him again tonight.  I don't know what I'm going to say.

"I'm sorry, but I should probably retire to my room now," I announce.

"Are you sure?  We were just about to ask for more brandy," says Mr. Rainier.

"Yes, I am sure.  Thank you Mr. Rainier, gentlemen, ladies."

"It's James," he exclaims.

"Goodbye Mr. Rainier," I reply.  He frowns as I walk away.

I make my way back to my room, fairly certain that I was going to be screwed over by my sexist, asshole of a boss.

"Mr. Fowler," I say to the screen.

"Kate.  Have you been recording your findings?"

"Yes, sir.  I have," I reply.

"Data?  You know we need that data, Kate."

"I... Haven't started yet," I answer.

"Kate!  What have I told you?  We need that data NOW.  Get it to me or you are fired.  Do you here me Kate?"  I can't even believe that I trusted a woman with this job.  It's very important that we receive all the data possible.  You have to understand that this could change history for the better.  I knew I couldn't trust you.  You go and get that data NOW or you are fired.  I told you that the consequences would be very high if you messed this up.  I will not only fire you, I will sue you as well.  Sue you for taking money that you sure as hell didn't earn."

By this time I was crying, tears streaming down my face.

"If you want me to get this data, then I will.  Just, don't call again.  Leave me alone," I say.  I grab the equipment and start heading towards the door.

"Don't expect that raise that you were wanting.  You sure as hell aren't getting it."

I run out the door, my vision blurry with tears.  I can't stand it.  Why did he have to be such a jerk?  I need that raise, and I can most definitely not be sued!  I don't have the money to pay it off.

The equipment in my hands are just a long strip of leather and wire with a metal stick on one side and a iPad mini on the other side.  It would have to be held as far away from the ship as possible.

I run across the deck, tears flying.  I am completely out of breath and my feet hurt like hell from these nasty shoes.  I pass a few benches, one of them with a man.  I feel his eyes on me as I run past him.  I get to the back of the ship and lift myself up onto the top rail.  There, I lean over and let the leather strap and wire fall with the metal sensor falling towards the ocean.  I look at the iPad and start collecting the data; water temperature, propeller speed, whatever will help me keep my job.

Jack's POV

The girl runs past as I smoke my cigarette and stare up at the stars.  I sit up and look in the direction that she's running.  Curious, I get up and follow her.

When I get to the back of the deck, I see the mysterious girl standing on the top rail, her right hand holding onto a pole and the other suspended out in front of her.

"Don't do it," I say.  She turns towards me, pulling her left arm towards her chest.

"Don't do what?" She asks.  I look at her confused.
