When I woke up it was daylight. My alarm was dead, so I guess we must've lost power or something during the night. I hear a soft knock at my door. "Karoline, honey, are you awake?" It was my mom. "Yeah mom, I'm awake. What's up?" I said as I sat up and stretched. "Thank God, I was starting to get worried." she said. She pushed open the door and came in. My mom looked a lot like me, only her red hair was straight and tame, and her eyes weren't set off by the paleness of her skin. "Worried? What are you talking about? " I said, now curious. She looked at me her eyes going wide. "Karoline, you were out all day yesterday and most of today." she said. 'What!' I thought, 'How is that possible?' The look on my face must have given away what I was thinking because the next thing she said was: "Christian said you had an incident at the library, and you were probably just really exhausted and needed rest. So I let you just rest." I looked at her, ' Oh right, the mystery boy, and the voice in my head.' I thought. At least I wasn't hearing things now. I smiled at my mom. "I'm good now mom, but thanks anyways" My mom visibly relaxed and sighed. "Good." She said, "dinner is downstairs at the table when you're ready." and with that she turned and left the room.

I got out of bed and got some clothes to wear. Then I headed for the shower. As I was stepping back into my room after my shower I heard it again. 'Karoline? Are you there?' The tiny foreign voice in my head. 'Not real. Not real. Not real.' I told myself over and over. 'Please, Karoline. I am real. You have to trust me. You are in danger.' it said. 'Danger?' I scoffed. 'Yeah right. The only danger I'm in, is the danger of going insane.' I heard it give a frustrated sound. 'Karoline, please, just listen to me.' It pleaded. 'Nope. Not gonna happen.' I thought. With that I put my clothes in the hamper and headed downstairs to dinner. I was ravenous. Not eating for a whole day and a half can really do a number on you.

Back in my bedroom after dinner I sat down at my desk to do some drawing. Another thing about me, I like to draw, and I'm good at it too. While I was drawing my mind wandered back to Friday at the library. Back to the mystery boy. I could still remember it, the way the afternoon sunlight danced off his golden brown hair. The way his amber eyes looked, curious, yet unafraid of anything. They almost reminded me of a lion's eyes. So bright, so... I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard the flapping sound of wing beats it's outside my window. I looked at my paper and jumped. Staring back at me was a perfect replica of the boy at the bus stop. I tried to shake the last bits of the recollection of thoughts from my head. I got up and went to my window and opened it. I stuck my head outside and looked around the yard, nothing. In the trees and in the forest, nothing. On my roof and in the sky, nothing. No wait, there was a shadow of something. Only it was gone as soon as I saw it. 'Oh great.' I think, 'and now I'm seeing things' I sighed and closed my window and then bolted it. Then I drew my curtains closed. 'What?!' said the voice. It sounded alarmed. I chose to ignore it. I wasn't about to try and go crazy, I wanted to stay as soon as possible, for as long as possible.
