I tensed.
Sabastains words repeating over and over inside my head.
"They're here."
I felt sudden anger rise in my chest, and glared at the now shocked White Rabbit. "WE TOLD YOU!! WE TOLD YOU AND YOU NEVER LISTENED TO US!!!" I yelled angrily at him, causing him to snap back to reality. We then heard howling, off in the distance.
All of us froze for a moment, not wanting to believe what was happening so fast, so unexpected. "Diamond..." Sobek whispered, looking at me, wondering what we should do.
"Run." Was all I said, and I didn't have to say it twice...
We were already running, Sabastain by my side, White Rabbit ahead of us, Shadow already in flight, Sobek hanging on protectively, and I was trying to plan on what to do..
If they caught us.
"Guys..." I huffed, Jumping over a fallen tree alongside Sabastain. "If they *huff* catch us or corner *huff* us..." I quickly glanced at Sabastain, who was listening carefully, knowing what we had to do if we wanted to make it out alive.
We looked at each other, my face dead serious.
"We fight."
He gave me a quick nod, and dodged another tree. We heard the creature running after us, knowing there was more than one...
There was a pack of them chasing us.
White Rabbit was getting a bit further ahead, Sabastain, Sobek and I slowly catching up. "SHADOW!!" Sobek yelled, causing Shadow to slow down, looking down at us with such fear in his eyes. "GO TO THE CASTLE!!! GET HELP!! QUICKLY!!!" Shadow hesitated, unsure what to do. Glaring up at him, breathing hard, I yelled. "GO, SHADOW!! DON'T *pant* WORRY ABOUT US!!" He nodded, giving me a worried look. "I-I'll t-try" He stuttered back, flying above the trees, until he was out of sight.
Now Sabastain, White Rabbit, Sobek and I had to figure out what to do...
Quickly.
Panting, I pushed myself to run faster, trying to keep up with Sabastain, not knowing how much longer I could keep running. I glanced back, seeing what White Rabbit explained, I now see why he explained to me with such fear in his voice.
These creatures looked like something straight out of a horror film.
Looking back ahead, I started asking myself questions that could possibly help us.
But the only question that came into mind, was a simple yet confusing one.
If these are creatures of the night, why are they attacking in day?
"DIAMOND!!" Sobek shouted in my ear, snapping me back to reality and almost tripping over. "What Sobe-"
*Whack!*
I fell on my back, hard. "Diamond!" Sabastain yelled, stopping and quickly rushing towards me. "What the hell?" I noticed it was a low tree branch that I ran into, giving me a small nosebleed, but that's not what I'm worried about now. Standing up quickly, I turned to look where the creatures were.
But didn't see them.
Sabastain looked confused, panting and looking exhausted, but still tense like I was. "Diamond? Are you alright?" Sobek asked, concerned. I felt the warm blood trickle down my chin, and wiped it off with the back of my hand, not caring about anything else but to where the creatures were. "I'm fine, Sobek, just a nosebleed." I replied, looking serious, then looked at Sobek, giving him a small smile. He nodded in response, then started to look around nervously. "Let's go." I mumbled, turning around, walking at a quick pace. Sabastain nodded, and walked by my side, glancing at White Rabbit, who seemed to have a lost look in his eyes. "Diamond, wait," I stopped, and looked at Sabastain, who looked at me with concern. "White Rabbit.." He nodded his head towards White Rabbit, Sobek and I looked at his expressionless face. "Do you think he's in shock?" Sobek asked quietly, glancing at me. Slowly walking towards White Rabbit, I noticed he had his pocket watch in his hand, holding it tightly. I raised an eyebrow, and kneeled down, looking at his expressionless face. "White Rabbit?" Sobek looked at him, worriedly. "Hey, we need to get going, I have a feeling they're coming back." I told him, putting a hand on his shoulder. He didn't seem to notice, just kept staring at the ground. "Sorry White Rabbit.." I mumbled, slowly raising my hand slightly above his head.
*Slap*
"Diamond!" Sabastain and Sobek yelled at the same time, I simply shrugged as White Rabbit shook his head, finally coming back. "He wasn't responding, what else was I supposed to do?" I said, standing up and started walking ahead. "D-Diamond..." White Rabbit stuttered. Stopping, I didn't bother turning around, just listened. He sighed shakily, then cleared his throat. "I'm sor-" "WHY THE HELL ARE YOU APOLOGIZING NOW!?" I yelled, facing him. He looked up at me, ears drooped, then he looked at the ground. "Diamond, I-" "SORRY IS NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING FOR ANYONE, WHITE RABBIT! SO KEEP YOUR APOLOGIES, BECAUSE THEY MEAN NOTHING TO ME NOW." I said, angrily. He sighed, and didn't bother looking up at me. Sobek glanced at me, Wondering what to say. "Diamond, we need to think of something quickly, but standing here yelling and getting angry at each other won't do anything." Sabastain said, calmly. Sighing, I turned to look at him. "I know, but we need to figure out where the hell those creatures went, because they could be anywhere.. Possibly around us, waiting." I replied, feeling more tense. "Let's go." Glancing around, I then turned back to the path. Sabastain nodded, quickly following, along with White Rabbit. "Sobek, if you see or hear anything, make sure to tell us." I whispered, And he nodded, and started scanning the dead forest. "I hope Shadow's alright." Sobek mumbled, looking over to the left. "He's fine, he's Shadow." I gave him a reassuring smile, then looked back ahead.
*Rustle Rustle*
We all froze in place, hearing the sound again, getting closer. Sabastain quickly ran towards the noise and jumped into the bush, teeth bared.
*Caw! Caw!*
It was a crow. Sobek sighed of relief, and Sabastain simply shook his head, watching the bird fly off, then headed back towards us. "It was simply a friend of Shadows!" Sobek said, happily. Sabastain rolled his eyes, standing closer to me. "Are you alright, Diamond?" He asked kindly, looking up at me. I nodded, giving him a small smile, then checked behind me, seeing White Rabbit a bit further behind. We continued walking, realizing it was getting darker than usual. "We must hurry, the sun is going down." Sabastain reported, walking faster. Sobek tightened his grip on me, looking more nervous than he was before. Gently, I began stroking his head, looking around, making sure nothing was following us. Sabastain suddenly stopped, and I immediately noticed something was wrong..
There was something blocking the path further up ahead. It was black, and that was it, but something told me it wasn't just the mist...
"Oh, no.." White Rabbit was behind Sabastain, looking terrified. "It's them." I stared at the darkness, feeling my heart beating faster, knowing White Rabbit was right.
They were in front of us.
Sabastain snarled, Baring his fangs, the fur on his back standing straight up. Sobek hissed, looking more fierce, White Rabbit stepped forward, ready.
And I stood my ground.
Knowing all of us were ready to fight.
Then there was howling, but it seemed to be all around us, even though the creatures were standing right there. Shaking my head slightly, clearing my thoughts, I stepped forward, wondering what they had planned.
I then noticed there was a red glow, coming from the darkness, definitely knowing it was them. "Diamond..." I looked at Sobek, who was looking behind us. "What is it, Sobek?" He just stared, looking more frightened. Turning around slowly, I saw what made Sobek look like that..
More of them, only this time, I was able to see more details instead of seeing just darkness. They were huge, but not as big as the one standing in front.
I believe this is the leader, or Alpha.
It snarled at us, making everyone else turn around, and I heard movement behind us, knowing they were surrounding us, making sure we weren't going anywhere. My breath quickened, my mind went completely blank, staring into the leaders red eyes. It then turned its head to look at another Wolfen, and nodded, the smaller one also nodded, then turned its gaze towards us. I stood there, in disbelief, wishing this could all be just a horrible dream.
Wishing I could wake up.
But I know that I'm already awake.
The Wolfen walked forward, coming towards us. All of us stared at it,ready to face it. I looked at the leader once more, seeing its eyes were already on me. Why was it staring at me? Was it after me? Tilting my head slightly, I felt myself step forward. "Diamond, what are you doing?" Sobek asked, not taking his eyes off the Wolfen who was getting closer. "I don't know.." I mumbled, and shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. "I feel weird.."
"DIAMOND! LOOK OUT!" I heard Sabastain yell, then running towards me. I snapped out of it, and quickly looked up in time to see the Wolfen leap at me. Thinking fast, I quickly jumped out of the way, hoping it would miss. It turned and went in my direction once more, I tried getting back up, but it dug its claws in my right leg, not wanting me to move. Sobek hissed at it, and moved fast, biting its clawed hand. Once it let go, I shot up quickly, and turned to face it, Sobek right beside me. It snarled at us, not noticing Sabastain until he jumped on its back and started biting and clawing at it. Glancing at the leader, I noticed it was closer then before, getting ready for something, no doubt. I looked at the sky for a moment, wanting to know where Shadow was, we needed him to come back.
Quickly.
Getting back to the real situation, I saw two more Wolfens charging at us, the leader taking yet another step closer. This time, I was ready for them. One aimed for me, while the other went after White Rabbit, who finally realized what he needed to do. Everything in our dreams...
Was already happening.
"Sobek, stay close to me!" I yelled at him, who was going after the Wolfen Sabastain was attacking, he stopped, and quickly slithered back towards me. The Wolfen after me bared its fangs at Sobek and I, ready to pounce at us at any moment. Sobek hissed at it, showing his fangs as well, distracting it as I quickly grabbed a dead branch off the ground. As I did, it charged at us, at inhuman speed, seeing I was the target as it ran past Sobek. At the last second, I moved out of the way as it flew pass me, missing by a few inches. I hit it upside the head as Sobek came behind it and bit into its foot several times, causing it to howl with rage. It turned around, scratching my face as it did, causing me to back up, stunned at the sudden pain. It knocked me over, then turned to face Sobek, who was backed up against a dead tree. He hissed at it again, giving false strikes as well, but it didn't seem threatened, instead it came closer to him, growling and baring its fangs. Quickly, I stood up, stumbling, yet proceeded towards Sobek at a fast pace, knowing what might happen next. It tried grabbing him, but he bit its clawed hands, possibly injecting as much venom as he could. Sobek hanging on tightly, it swung its clawed hand around, trying to shake him off but he just held on tighter, distracting it as I snuck behind it. It grabbed his body with its other hand, and pulled, forcing Sobek to let go as it squeezed him tightly. "SOBEK!!" I yelled angrily, not wanting to lose my friend, I did the same thing I did in the dream.
Knowing what might happen to me if I did, but I can't lose anyone else I love most.
I jumped, right onto the creatures back, distracting it. It let go of Sobek, and focused on me. I wrapped my arms around its neck, giving Sobek a chance to run.
But he didn't move.
Just lied there...
"Sobek..." I whispered, realizing I might have been too late...
I felt rage replace anger, not caring about anything else as I squeezed the Wolfens neck tightly, hoping I could suffocate it. "DAMN IT!!!! DIE, ALREADY, JUST FUCKING DIE!!!!" I screamed at it in rage as it struggled, trying to shake me off its back. It then slammed me into a tree, causing me to let go and fall hard on the ground. "DIAMOND!!" I turned to where Sobek lied, now he was rushing towards us, looking courageous. "Sobek..."
*Grrrrrr...*
I slowly turned my head, coming face to face with the Wolfen, who was now standing right above me.
"DIAMOND!!" Sobek screamed, knowing he wasn't gonna make it in time as I stared into the Wolfens eyes. It looked at me, almost mockingly, as I lay there, frozen, unable to think as it opened its jaws wide...
And bit down on my left shoulder...
Hard.
I screamed out in pain and anger, trying to kick it off me as it sank its fangs deeper, holding me down, making sure I wouldn't get away. "DIAMOND!! NOO!" I heard Sobek scream in anger, trying to rush over as fast as his little body could move. Getting my senses back, I kneed it in the stomach, making it lose its grip on my right arm. Swiftly, I yanked my arm out of its grasp and punched it upside the head with my fist, causing it to let go and stumble back, stunned. I tried getting up, but I started feeling...
Strange, a feeling I've never had before.
Was I losing that much blood so soon?
Looking to the left, I saw what happened in my dream...
Was now a living nightmare.
My shoulder looked far worse than what I thought, bleeding nonstop, the bite wound deeper than expected, reminding me of some kind of horror movie.
Only this time, it was reality.
I screamed in frustration, too weak to get up, defending myself was now an impossible task as I struggled moving my arms, which felt like they weighed a thousand pounds. Slowly moving my head to the right, I saw my friends, trying to defend themselves. Sobek trying to get to me, but was then cornered by another Wolfen, White Rabbit jumping off trees and kicking two Wolfens, who tried grabbing him but kept missing, Sabastain still attacking the same Wolfen, and he looked like he was winning as he went for the throat. I started feeling tired, my shoulder feeling like it was on fire, my legs were aching and sore, my body exhausted from all this sudden chaos. "DIAMOND!" Sobek yelled my name once again, causing me to snap back to reality. "BEHIND YOU!" I stared at him, horrified, unable to protect myself from another attack by the Wolfen. Struggling yet again to turn my head, I looked to the left..
Seeing two pairs of glowing red eyes staring back at me in the darkness. My breath quickened as my heart started pounding against my chest, struggling to move my arms and legs, but they still wouldn't corporate, as if I was paralyzed. I stared at them, hearing them move closer, then stop. I turned to the right again, feeling lightheaded, watching my friends try desperately to get to me yet fighting off the Wolfens, wanting to know if I was alright.
Especially Sobek, who was so close yet so far from me.
It was getting harder and harder to keep my eyes open, feeling myself black out from the loss of blood.
*Swoosh* *Swoosh*
Watching the chaos, I saw two shadows move past me, rushing towards the Wolfens at lightning speed. My friends looked at them, but I wasn't sure how they saw these sudden figures. They seemed to be helping as I saw the taller figure slice the Wolfens throat, who Sabastain was fighting, as the smaller figure went after the other two White Rabbit was attacking, easily breaking one of their necks and fighting off the other one.
"Soon, young one, you'll be mine.." I froze, unsure of what I heard inside my head. Glancing around, I noticed the Wolfen that attacked me was just standing there, staring at me, looking as if it had a grin on its face. Taking a step closer, I realized this creature might be communicating with me somehow.
That or I definitely lost a lot of blood.
I watched as it crept closer to me, until it was right beside me, kneeling down and putting a clawed finger on my chin, staring into my eyes.
"Seems it's already happening, special one. Until next time." It stood up, stared at me for a bit longer, and retreated back into the trees, howling. The remaining Wolfens quickly rushed after it, and the pain in my shoulder increased, causing me to groan out in pain. I lay there, unsure what the hell was going on, the chaos starts then stops unexpectedly, leaving me very confused and exhausted. I felt myself drift off to sleep, finally getting a chance to rest my tired body and mind, a chance to escape the reality I wish was all a dream..
Wishing I could wake up from this nightmare.
But I know this is only the beginning.
