Drowning

Losing a friend is like drowning. It's suffocating, but there's always a chance of revival. The beginning is the worst. You'll listen to songs that remind you of them. You'll go places you two went to together and the memories will come flooding back. You'll have just fell overboard and feel the sense of panic knowing that in those moments, you're completely alone in the big ocean.

Just when you think it's over, that there's no return, someone throws you a life raft and brings you back to the surface. Whether it's yourself that threw the life raft or another friend, you find it just in your reach.

There's times after all is said and done when you'll get flashbacks and it'll feel like you're losing air again, but they just call that never letting go.
