Chapter 6 - A Fair Coincidence

Railey's POV

Sunday, at the fair, 11:02 am

The guy didn't even hesitate, after hearing the young girl's demand, he spun around, grabbing the teddy from the top shelf and handed it to her. "There you go kid, now leave me alone!" he grumbled. She hugged the teddy tightly and squealed in delight., jumping up and down happily. She had the biggest grin on her face, it just made my heart melt, she was such a sweetheart. I nodded at the guy who just wanted us out of his sight, but still looking at my phone. I smiled slightly and pretended to delete the non-existent video I so happened to capture. Hey, I never said I really did have all that on my phone, but I had to scare him somehow and it worked flawlessly. My lips curved up into a small smile as I thought of how perfectly thought out that plan was.

I turned my attention back to the little girl who was still obviously ecstatic with the stuffed bear she just gotten. I squatted down beside her and held her still, laughing at how cute she was. "So, what's your name princess? Or should I just call you that?" I said playfully, smiling t her. She giggled at her new-found nickname, "I'm Zoe! Tell me yours too! It ain't fair that you know mine but I don't know yours." Still smiling at her, I thought of how mature Zoe was for her age, "Railey and very true." She giggled again and thanked me for helping just now since the guy was being a jerk. "You're welcome and anytime."

I stood up and turned around started to leave when she grabbed my shirt and tugged on it, looking up at me. I blinked and squatted back down beside her, "Yeah? What is it? Is something wrong?" I asked, question marks appearing above my head. What else does she need me for? "My auntie, I don't know where she is. Can you help me find her?" OHHHHH....right, no wonder I didn't see her aunt. I smiled and nodded, standing up, I held her free hand. She was carrying her teddy, hugging it tightly with her other hand. "You sure you don't want me to carry that for you? It looks heavy..." She shook her head, "I might be small, but I'm very tough and strong!" I giggled and smiled at her, "Alright then, but tell me if you get tired carrying it, I'll hold onto him for you." She smiled and nodded, "I'm going to name him.... Carlos!"

"That's an excellent name, now let's go find your aunt, I don't know what she looks like so you'll have to tell me if you see her, okay?" she nodded happily, glad I was there to help her, again. "And while we're at it, you can be my company for the day." She grinned and nodded again, skipping joyfully while I walked beside her, holding her hand firmly, so we wouldn't get separated by the crowd of people.

We went from booth to booth while on our hunt to find Zoe's aunt. We won a few prizes along the way. A few kiddie rides were also involved, but of course, only Zoe was allowed on them, I stayed at the sidelines, watching her have fun and looking out for her. I couldn't go on any of those big rides, cause I had to stay and look after Zoe, but it wasn't boring or anything, I had fun watching her enjoy herself. She kept a lookout for her aunt and I paid attention to all the announcements being made over the speakers, just in case there were any reports of someone missing a kid named Zoe.

Whydidn't I just bring her to the person in charge and announce that she was lostand was searching for her aunt, you may ask. If I did that, wouldn't it beeasier and they would be reunited faster than how we were looking for her now,right? I know, but I didn't, because I had a gut feeling that I might regret itif I didn't meet this 'Isabella' person, and I was getting quite curious abouther. "AUNTIE ISABELLA!!" Zoe screamed beside me which snapped me outof my thoughts. Wow, damn she's loud - wait, did she just say'Isabella'? I snapped my head up briskly, surprised it hadn't flew offmy neck. I gawked at the sight before me, not believing that the personstanding in front of me existed.
