Chapter 1: Zack's New Friend

Ruby Bradford has just turned 16. About a year ago her and her family moved to North Carolina from Perth, Australia as her father was offered a new job position. She will be attending a new school after summer, which she is both excited about and quite nervous about as she doesn't know anyone in the town, and is nervous to attend a school where she doesn't know anyone there. Ruby attends a dance company near by, where she is taking class up to 5 times per week.

Last Wednesday, Ruby's Hip Hop instructor Paige told her some very bad news. Paige explains that her former duet partner Dane's family has had to make an unexpected move to New Zealand as a family member was extremely sick and in need of care for the next few years. Ruby was devastated "Where on earth am I going to find a new partner on such short notice, competition season starts in a few months. I am never going to be able to interact with and win with a new partner like k was with Dane😞"

A week later, Ruby is in her living room watching Netflix when her brother, Zack walks into the kitchen where their mother was standing preparing lunch.
"Mum I have some news!" He says with an excited tone in his voice.
"What is it honey?" She curiously replies
"Well at college today I was sitting in the Library working on my film assignment, the place was packed so there were barely any computers vacant. Next to me there was 1 of very few computers available. Of course I didn't think anything of it. A guy came and sat down next to me and starting working on whatever it is he was doing, he must have looked over and seen what I was working on when he asked me if I am in the Media Class in room 376? When I said that that is my class and he said that that is his classroom as well, that he is working on the same assignment.   Anyway we were there helping each other for a good 3 hours or so before we had both finally finished. Anyway we exchanged numbers and Facebook profiles and went on our way. Anyway he text me before and was asking to hang out tonight.... Is that okay?"
"Sure honey" she says "I'm glad you have found a friend"
"Thanks Mum, is it okay if he comes here?" He asks
"That would be fine Zack" she confirms.

About an hour later, Ruby is still in the lounge room when she hears a knock on the door.
"I'LL GET IT!!" Zack yells running down the stars
He opens the door and greets a guy standing there.

Ruby's POV:
When my brother opens the door I see a relatively tall guy standing there. He had the brightest blue eyes and brown hair with a relatively fair complexion. Zack welcomes him in. 
"Ruby, this is Nash, he is staying the night" Zack says
"What's up" Nash says to me
"Hey" I politely reply.
They both walked up the stairs to Zack's room where they would both be staying the night.

I was siting in my bedroom watching Netflix when I hear Zack call out.
"Mum, is it okay if we head out tonight?" I hear Zack yell from his bedroom to Mum in a room close by.
"That should be fine mate" She says back to him.

About half an hour later Zack and Nash came into my room;

"Hey, uh, Rubs?" He asks curiously

"Whats up?" I ask him

"Do you think you would be able to pick us up around 12am tonight?"

"Umm, I guess that would be fine..... On one condition...." I playfully threaten him

"How does $20 sound?" he offers

"Sounds like I will be picking you up" I tell him

Within about 15 minutes of the guys asking me to pick them up after the party, I heard Zack shout out from the bottom of the stairs;

"Mum, our ride is here"

"No worries honey just hang on I want to say goodbye to you before we leave" She says

Mum and Dad were off on a business trip tonight to Alaska, they are going to shoot a documentary for the local news channel so they will be gone for about a month or two.

Once Mum had seen them off, she heads back up stairs to finish getting her things together.  Both Mum and Dad bought all of their bags downstairs, and called for a taxi.  When the taxi finally arrived, I hugged and kissed the both of them, waved them off and came back inside.  

I went up to my room and switched on Netflix, then just chilled on my bed.

At about 12:10am, I get a call from an unknown number;

"Hello?" I answer

"Hey Ruby, its Nash, uhh were ready to be picked up whenever you are"

"Hey, yeah i'm on my way, but where is Zack, is he with you?"

"Yeah he is here, he... he just isn't feeling like talking right now" Nash says with a little chuckle in his voice.

"Ohh, haha i'm on my way"

When I pull up to pick up the guys, Nash helps Zack into the back seat, then gets in the front seat.

"Hey, thanks for picking us up" He says thankfully

"Its no worries" I say

When we get home, Nash helps Zack out of the car.  Zack then walks quickly inside, I assume to spew, leaving me and Nash to walk inside together.

"So, how are you liking school?" He asks me

"Well, I havn't actually been to school yet" I tell him

"Oh, so what do you do to pass the time?"

"Well, I go to dance 5 times a week"

"Nice, I already new you were a dancer though" He says

"Really? How?" 

"No normal 16 year old girl has a body like yours, and, no normal 16 year old can do the weird shit you do with your body..." he states

"What do you mean weird shit?"

"Umm, no normal person bends down with their feet together to tie their shoes with their legs completely straight"

"Haha, okay then"

"You know I have a brother your age" He says

"You do?"

"Yeah, you may meet him tomorrow, he is coming to pick me up"

"Oh, okay, it would be nice to have another friend"

When we get inside I show Nash the way to Zacks room, he thanks me again for the lift, then goes into Zacks room and closes the door.  By now Zack was already passed out on his bed, so I went into my room and went straight to sleep, I was super tired.
