Chapter 3: The spark is Lit

Hayes POV:
Ruby was standing in the kitchen when she offered Nash and I a drink. Nash and I both took her offer, and she came back into the lounge with 3 glasses of water.
"What school do you go to Ruby?" I ask trying to start a conversation.
"Uh, well I haven't actually attended the school yet but I will be going to Sandy Straight High. Have you heard anything about it?" She asks
"I have, I have heard that there is a really hot guy in your grade..."
"Hayes, stop! She is trying to be nice to you" Nash says laughing "He means himself Ruby".
"Oh, haha well how do you like the school?" Ruby asks me
"Personally, I find it very strict" I say being sarcastically serious
"Thaaaats because you are always in trouble for getting up to mischief at that school" Nash says jumping in
"Sounds awful" Ruby says
"Oh, trust me, it is!" I assure her, again sarcastically.
Nash gets up from the lounge and goes upstairs
"I'm gonna get changed" he says
"That would be nice!" I say
So, what do you like to do for fun?"
"Well, I dance, like, a lot" She tells me
"That's so cool, so you do all that, freaky shit with your body then? In dance I mean" I ask her
"Uh, yeah, yeah I do" She says looking kind of shy
"Wow, so do you compete or anything?" I ask her
"Yeah I do, uh, at least I used to"
"Used to? Did you quit?" I ask, starting to become more curious
"Yeah, I mean I still would be if, if I still had Dane"
"So, Dane quit?"
"Yeah. But not intentionally he and his family had to make a drastic move to New Zealand to be with a family member, so, that was the end of that" she explains to me
"Wow, so you can't compete because you don't have a partner?"
"Thats right, I mean I can do group work and solos, but duets were my favourite to compete and learn, I don't know how I am supposed to find a new partner that I can connect with like Dane, we were inseparable and it was easy for us to learn dances" she says with a sign of sadness over her.
"I'm sure you will find someone just as great, I mean your beautiful and I am sure you are an amazing dancer!" I assure her
"Thank you Hayes"
"Hey, is, do you want to head up and see if the guys are awake?" I ask her
"Yeah sure, why somewhere to be?" She asks with a big smirk on her face
"No.... But I'm sure you are very busy?" I ask her
"I just have dance later, that's all" She says like its no big deal
"So, I guess you have time to hang out then?" I ask
"I sure do" She says with a big smile
"That's settled then"
By now we were at the top of the stairs;
"Which way to Zack's?" I ask her in disbelief of the size of the house
"Uh, this way" she says sounding super shy, I guess she was nervous
