"Baby I would die for you. Don't you realize take my life for you."

The drive from campus, with Maya, was an interesting one. Never had 3 hours passed so quickly. On the journey I learned of our mutual love for the band Coldplay. We sung along to a few tracks together. She introduced me to an artist named EDEN, who she claimed was one of the best musicians she had ever listened to. I introduced her to the lesser known songs of The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran, she then poked fun at me for my tasteful yet basic music tastes.

We arrived to my home, it looked just the way I left it. The exterior walls were a familiar dark tan and the dual garage doors were immaculately white. The house had several large windows and it didn't take much to see everything going on in it. This always worried me, especially when Gemma and Mother lived alone.

I knocked thrice, before returning to her side. I put my left hand at her lower back, I knew this would calm her.

The door swung open. Behind it stood a tall figure. I took a step back, why the fuck was my father here? He wore a royal blue dress shirt with dark gray slacks, topped with a dumb smirk.

My hand gripped her left hip tightly, a defense mechanism.

"Harry!" I heard him say in artificial excitement. His blue-gray eyes always hid his ill intentions.

"Hello." I said at the man, rather than to him. He stepped aside, giving me a chance to lead Maya into the house.

I knew I looked deranged, I had already ran my fingers through my hair multiple times.

"Aren't you going to introduce me to your little friend?" He hollered from the doorway.

I stopped abruptly."This is Maya. Maya, this is my father."

Maya's eyes were suddenly wide, as if she came to a realization. She easily regained her composure. "It's nice to meet you." She smiled her great smile. She wore red lipstick, which made her smile even more beautiful.

"Maya. That sounds very familiar." He squinted. "Nice to meet you."

I turned on my heels and continued to drag Maya through the house.

I marched into the kitchen, where I meet Gemma. She looked stressed.

"Baby brother!" She threw her arms around my neck.

"Why the fuck is Dad here?" I asked, wasting no time. I needed an explanation, I was promised he wouldn't be there.

"Harry." Maya said disapprovingly. I almost forgot she was there, I had a death grip on her hand.

"Yeah, Harry. At least introduce me to your friend first."

"Maya this is Gemma. Gemma this is Maya, my girlfriend." The word felt odd rolling off my tongue.

They hugged with a mountain of I've heard so much about you's and you're beautiful's and thank you's being exchanged.

"So what the fuck is he doing here?" I asked again.

"I can hear you." He entered the kitchen.

"You're not fucking deaf." I replied.

"Am I not welcomed in my own house, Harold?"

"This stopped being your house when you walked the fuck out." I shot back.

He threw his arms in the air, as if admitting defeat.

"Guys. Can we get along just for tonight?" Gemma asked, seemingly desperate.

"I need a moment."  I ran my fingers through my hair before leading Maya upstairs, into my old room.
