{Chapter Nine}
"Dude, why do you keep dragging me here? What part of 'I don't go for woman' do you not understand?" Christian demands as we once again sit in the strip club not far from my house.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't quite hear you over the music. What was it you think I don't get?" I ask in a raised voice. His pale green eyes find mine, morphing into a deep glare.
"I am gay," he growls but his voice is loud enough for others to hear. Just like I anticipated men clearly gawk at him in curiosity while others snicker to themselves. "I hate you. Seriously, why are we here?"
"Because I'm in love," I declare. He sighs heavily and slumps in his seat, watching the dancers with a glum look."You've known him all of six months. It's probably just Oxytocin," he mutters. I glance at him in confusion until a woman wearing cat ears walks by, catching my attention.
A silky black tail is hooked to the back if her lacy black panties. The black of her outfit combined with the deep red lipstick she's wearing makes her appear to be far paler than she actually is. It's quite pretty.
When she's fully out of view I turn my gaze back to Christian.
"What the hell is Oxytocin?" I demand but then shake my head. "Never mind, I don't care. I have to go shopping so let's go."
Christian jumps up so fast I'm surprised he doesn't have a head rush. When I don't immediately stand he grabs my hand and pulls me up.
"Come on, I want to get out of here. It smells like cheap cologne, money, and jizz." I arch a brow at him in question but he waves me off as he pulls me out of the club.
"Man you're eager to go shopping with me," I mutter as we leave the club. Cold air slices through my bones, making me shake involuntarily until we reach my car. We both get in and I turn on the heater immediately to soothe the cold in my bones. I pull out of the surprisingly crowded parking lot, considering it's not even noon yet, and drive towards the local Trader Joe's.
"Seriously? You shop here?" Christian observes in amusement. I roll my eyes and shut off the engine before I get out.
"Yeah I shop here. Got a problem with it? Where else am I going to find vegan hot dogs?" I explain and lead the way towards the store through the nearly empty parking lot. Before we can even enter the store Christian clamps onto my hand in a death grip, making a weird sound in the back of his throat and pulling me away from the entrance. "Christian!"
"Jason, look," he coos. It takes me second to realize what drew him away but when my eyes land on the box full of fur I understand why he had to stop me. Christian gets on his hunches to pull one of the small balls of fur out of the box, looking at it in awe. I look back to the box and pull out a fluffy white ball with a pink nose and large green eyes.
It stares at me for a moment before it opens its small mouth to mew at me. I stroke a thumb over the soft fur of his head. I put him back in the box after a moment and he meows at me again before moving to cuddle against his siblings.
"Would you like one? They're free, we just want them to go to a good home," a nice woman sitting next to the box explains. She's wearing a long black dress with long sleeves, a pair of black glasses framing her warm brown eyes.
"No, sorry. I hope they all find a good home though," I add with a smile and one last glance at the white fur ball. "Come on Christian."
With a smal, reluctant sigh Christian places the calico kitten back in the box with its other siblings and smiles politely at the young woman. We go into the store after I order Christian to get me a cart. I move towards the dairy section with Christian following right next to me, looking around as if he's never been in a Trader Joe's before.
