{Chapter Twenty}

"It's almost over." I state while I sign off on a few documents and type some things into my computer to make new contracts.

"What is? The world? I know, I can't believe he actually made it to office." Christian says and I roll my eyes.

"No, not that. By the way, it could be worse, Clinton could have won. If that happened we would be at war with Russia right now. And honestly everyone needs to drop it, it's just getting annoying at this point. The president has been chosen, if we're screwed than so be it. Get over it. But no, I meant the deal I made with Dave. This is the last day of the week. We're going to talk about it today and decide if we want to go through with it." I explain with a sigh.

In the last week David managed to show me a lot, and teach me a lot. We went back to the club a few more times, and I got to interact with his friends more, who honestly are some of the nicest people I have met. David gave me some hints to each of their pasts, not so much that it would be invading their privacy, but enough for me to understand them better.

Like Master Liam, I only just learned the other night that something had happened to him that made him quieter. David wouldn't go into specifics but apparently he had been in an abusive relationship before coming into the lifestyle, his abuser convinced him to join the army and sucked him of every penny so Liam saw none of it.

Between the relationship and the harsh atmosphere of the army, it changed him. According to David, Liam used to be a really upbeat, happy person, after that though he became more reserved; listening rather than speaking.

"You're not going to go any further with it," Christian asks but it sounds more like a statement. I glance out of the corner of my eye to watch him file papers, handing me some now and then, adding to the growing stack of papers on my desk.

"Actually, I want to." I reply. I notice him tense up and glance out of the corner of his eye to look at me before shaking his head.

"You're insane. You're going to get hurt, Jay," he grumbles. For some reason that causes rage to fill me.

How does he know what's going to happen? Why does he even care? He isn't my mother, he has no right to say shit like that. He has no right to judge David when he doesn't even understand how things work. I trust David, and that's all that should matter. I trust he would never hurt me, and I know if I told him at any point in any situation that I want everything to stop, he would do precisely that.

"You don't know that, you don't even know what you're talking about. You take what everyone else says as the truth and never bother to look into it yourself. You take all your frustrations out on me, instead of talking about it like an adult, and instead mope and try to make me feel like crap right along with you.

"But I'm not taking that, Christian. I couldn't give two fucks whether or not you like David or agree with my lifestyle choices. You're not my mother, you're not my father, you have no right to tell me what I should and shouldn't do with my life. And if you don't like it then you can find yourself a new friend." I mercilessly chew him out and all the while he has completely abandoned his task to stare at me.

"I'm sorry," he replies.

"Damn straight." I snap. "Now are you going to tell me what stick has lodged itself up your ass? 'Cause I know it wasn't mine or else you wouldn't be bitching, you'd be off on bed rest."

"Really?" Christian deadpans, rolling his eyes. He sighs and goes back to his task. "It's Zeke."

"Oh so it's his stick that got stuck up your ass. I always knew he was gay," I joke and he rolls his eyes, flipping me off without looking away from the stack of paperwork he's going through.
