Authors Note: I know the name isn't all too good, but with the plot line so far, it's the best I could do. I hope you guys like the first chapter! To let you know there will be more boys of One Direction coming around. But not all of them will be featured in this story, sorry! Anyways, don't forget to comment and vote and stuff and give me some opinions. Thank you for reading xx.
The soft music filled the closed area with a tranquil peace that none of the guests could ignore. The melody, humming prominently in the background, drew people closer together, gave them some kind of unavoidable want to be near someone. One by one, the guests began to partner up, lead each other off to a corner, to the vast space meant for dances, or any kind of intimate setting left to engage in a slow, romantic dance. It would've been nice to watch, maybe, if the scene before her didn't make Caitlyn feel even more lonely.
She was sat alone, in one of the many empty couches left. She watched as the women wrapped their hands around the men's necks, and the men looked down or straight on into the women's eyes, smiling goodily and whole heartedly. From the looks everyone around her seemed to be sharing, she couldn't be sure which partners dancing were really strangers, or lovers, or best friends. The only thing she knew was she didn't have either of them to keep her company tonight. Specifically, in the moment of the night when she thought she could use it the most.
She tried to focus really hard on the other couples, the ones that didn't make her stomach revolt and all the pastries she had devoured throughout the night somehow climb back up her throat, begging to be released. But it was hard, so hard, when all she could hear was his laughter and her giggles. And then she would look and see the two unlike the rest of the partners dancing together. They weren't staring at each other with complex adoration, or holding each other with unfamiliarity. No, it was obvious that they knew each other well, and were way past comfortable with one another too.
They weren't going along with the music. They were dancing to their own beat. He was twirling her around and she was letting him, smiling all the way through. He was pulling her close, and she was letting him, and then he was pulling her away for effect and she was dragging him right back in. He was dipping her, and she holding his face close to hers the whole time. He was poking her nose, she was resting her head on his chest, and they were smiling, laughing, soaking in the sweetness that they seemed to find in each other's company. They were the dream couple from afar, from close up, from every angle thought possible. And Caitlyn guessed that was the point. They were supposed to be the Dream Couple.
She looked down to her cup, the only company she had seemed to find endearing throughout the entire night. Without questioning the wiseness of her decisions or trying to keep track about how much she had already had to drink, she brought the cup up to her lips, and chugged down the mixed taste of sour and sweet.
"It must be hard, innit?" a familiar voice spoke from above her. Before her eyes could completely look up, the boy was already sat next to her. She looked to her side instead, to find what she expected: blue eyes, blonde hair, and kiddy smile, all a part of her new found company. Niall. She had seen the same feautures too many times before in the past couple of years to confuse them for anyone else's, even when she was a bit under soberity.
"What?" she asked, her voice hoarse. She wasn't sure why it was so croaky, but she guessed it was because it was so dry. In the past two hours, no one had really made an attempt to talk to her. When she arrived, she was of course greeted by a dimple-smiled, Harry Styles, who hugged her like maybe one day, he could love her. And then she was introduced to a couple of the guests, who had no clue who she was and only pretened to care when Harry was around. As soon as the real female attraction for the night arrived, and Harry left her side, it seemed everyone else did too, acting the way the would've towards her if Harry hadn't shown her around for a bit.
