A/N: Another character introduced! I know his part is short and all that but don't worry, we will definitely see more of him later ;). Hope you enjoy!!
Caitlyn sat down with a slump. She still had a pounding headache even after grabbing a quick muffin and hot coffee from the Uni’s cafeteria. She cursed herself, thinking she really had to stop going to late night events when they were hosted on a Sunday and she clearly had school on Monday morning. She had barely been able to keep her eyes open during lecture and she was sure whatever her professor was talking about was important, because the semester was soon ending, and when semesters ended things got tough. She had no idea how she was about to get through this project with Zayn. They had agreed to meet in the Ecology garden, on one of the benches, to discuss their project for sociology, but all Caitlyn really wanted to do was go home to a familiar bed and compensate for the sleep she didn’t get the previous night.
She looked down at her phone to see the time. They had agreed to meet an noon and it was already five past. Caitlyn was used to Zayn being late by now. He was always late, to everything. It was just in his nature, she supposed. Although Zayn wasn’t punctual, he was responsible, possibly more so than herself, so she wouldn’t complain when he came in ten minutes late to their scheduled meeting time.
Just as she was about to lock her phone, she heard two girls walking from behind her, engaged in very loud conversation. Caitlyn would’ve preferred not to hear it, but at the volume the two girls were chattering away, it was hard not to.
“I heard he planned a romantic evening kind of thing for them at the hotel. That is was totally spontaneous,” one of the girls said, enthusiasm clear in her voice. Instantly, Caitlyn knew who and what they were talking about. She rolled her eyes and fought the urge to look over at the girls with a disgusted face.
“Yes! I know what you’re talking about. I read the same article this morning. I hope it’s true,” the other girl said, her voice high pitched and way too excited about having a conversation about two other people.
“I think so. He’s so dreamy. There’s no way a boy like him isn’t romantic too,” and at that Caitlyn made a grunting kind of noise. She was sure the girls looked over to her, because she kind of felt their eyes on her face. She didn’t look back though. She knew she would lose it if she did. She thought it was so pathetic how everyone fed into that shit. She had clearly seen Fred set the whole thing up, just like he had set the whole relationship up in the first place, but everyone was so gullible and kept believing all the paid articles claiming the actions to be genuine. She sometimes wondered if she was an outside looker if she would think the same thing. She wasn’t sure. But the point is she wasn’t an outside spectator, she was on the inside, and she knew the actual truth. Well, most of it.
At the mention of Harry, she remembered about his texts last night and this morning. She had ignored them, in a clear rush this morning to get dressed and get to class on time. She had literally dragged Niall out of bed and threatened him to take her to school himself, because waiting for his driver would take too long. It was a risky kind of thing, because speculation about Caitlyn and Niall had already been going on for some time. But Niall wasn’t nearly as big as Harry in the industry, so he never made the news enough to actually cause uproar about their relationship or change Caitlyn’s personal life. Although, being linked even once to Harry had done that for her. In the past, before Jesselyn, Harry and Caitlyn had been photographed together, out and about, and of course, people always assumed the obvious. But Harry was always quick to deny the rumors, and as usual, once Harry was out of the equation, people lost interest in her. She always wondered whether Harry was so quick to deny any kind of romantic connection between them out of impulse or because of Fred. She never came around to asking though, thinking she couldn’t bear it if it wasn’t the latter.
