The Hospital
CORY'S POV
~ ~ ~ ~ ~Patiently waiting for Y/N to wake up was not easy. What if she didn't wake up? What if she went into a coma? Don't people die in comas? Those robbers were brutal, and I was beaten horribly! I had a bandage wrapped around my forehead, one on my right shoulder, and one on my left, lower leg. Why did she have to have it so much worse?!
I shook my head. No use worrying like this. What would it help anyways? I stare at her heart moniter. It suddenly started beating unusually quick, but almost immediately calmed down. Odd. A nurse came into the room to see how Y/N was doing.
"Has she woken up yet?" She asks politely. Pffft. Yeah right!
"No." I grunt, not trying to be rude. The nurse nods, adjusting the wires in a more comfortable way, and writing things on her clipboard.
"Want tea or coffee?" She asks me.
"Neither. My friends are getting me some food. Thanks for asking though." I reply, barely giving her a glance. I then immediately returned to staring at my best friend's smooth skin face. She was . . . Beautiful. It made me all warm and fuzzy inside.
"You doin' anything later?" She asks me, a slight seductive tone in her voice. Not today!
"Besides waiting here for my friend, no. I'm not." I tell her bluntly. As if I was going out with her. The nurse frowns. I had actually slept here overnight, and I am not going anywhere without food, and Y/N's eyes open.
"Wanna go to a restaurant sometime?" Oh. My. Goodness. I was almost killed at the last restaurant. What are you thinking woman?
"Yeah, um. I think I'm done with restaurants for the month." I answer, shaking my head. I don't want to be at any for a while. After all, I want to know Y/N a bit more first!
"Humph! Fine." She says, seeing that I wouldn't let her have me. I was into someone else. Not this crazy nurse who's name I don't know, and thinks flirting with their patients family during work is a fantastic idea. At least she left. A couple minutes later, Nick and Tessa came in the room.
"Hey guys." I say plainly. They look at me quizzically. Then an 'o' came across their faces, realizing something. Then came the sympathy. Sympathy, empathy, not much difference there. It's just feeling sorry for someone. I hate feeling sorry. Feeling sorry, owing apologies, guilt, getting the thought 'It shouldn't been you.'
If you hadn't figured it out yet, here's the fact: I love Y/N. You might think 'Isn't love a strong word?'. Of course it is! Because it's TRUE. I won't lie, I won't argue, it's the honest truth. Why do I love her? Well, if you can't figure that out, then GET out! But why oh why did I have to figure out, right when I might just lose her?
"Here's your meal!" Tessa chirps, trying to keep her smile going. She throws me a paper bag with some donuts from Dunkin Donuts and a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks.
"Thanks guys." I say. If I had a face, the only thing that would change on my features, would be the weak, vulnerable smile I was giving them right now.
"You sleeping here or at home tonight?" Nick asks me. Was I sleeping home tonight? Maybe I needed it, I've been stressing musk out for a while. . . . . .
No.
"No thanks man, but thanks for asking." I reply, as if I had recited it for hours. I hadn't, don't worry.
"Not leaving 'till she wakes up?" Tess asks me. I nod my head, it was kind of obvious anyhow. The couple looked at each other, exchanging worried glances.
"You sure your not coming home? You could probably use the rest." Nick tells me, biting his lip. Nope, not leaving. I nod my head.
"I'm staying here until she's ready to go." I state. I promise, Y/N. Nothing could change that, even if it tried. The unfortunate thing is, does she love me? Does she like me more than a friend? I'd walk on glass, walk over fire, I would die for her.
Never mind. Dying is too easy. I would live for her. I would change the world, I'd steal! All for this one girl that has a small chance of living. A large chance of dying. If she dies, I'm going right after her. Screw 'till Death do us part! Whoever said that, must have not loved someone enough to know that the walls between the living and the dead shouldn't separate you.
"Hey, could you guys watch her for me? I'm going to clean myself up before I come back." I inform them, standing up from the blue chair I spent my time in. Nick tosses me the keys as I walk out the doors.
"Anything for you dude." Nick calls. I sigh. Someone help me . . .
[TESSA'S POV]
"Someone needs to help him." I say sadly. Tears threatened to flow onto my cheeks, and a frown slowly began forming on my face.
"Yeah, but it can't be me. And definitely not you, no offense." Nick says. Yeah, that's a fact. Do doubt about it!
"None taken." I tell him, putting on a weak smile. I look over at Y/N. "He needs her. Anything, anything at all! A twitch of the hand, a slight shift in posture, a whisper of a word! Nick pulls me onto his lap and wraps his hands around my waist, giving me a tight hug.
"Look at us!" I giggle happily. "We've known each other for a little over a week, and we're already the cutest couple around!" We laugh for a bit, and look at Y/N.
"That's what they need," Nick mumbles as I lean my head into his shoulder, "Somebody to love. And it's definitely not going to be us all the time."
"But they already do love each other. They have for a while." I whisper. He chuckles. Nick continues, "Y/N loves him. She doesn't know it, but she might. She might figuring it out right now! Cory's already cracked the code though. He loves her, but rejection is easily one of the worst things, and so he fears it." He faces me. "Like when I asked you out."
"Cory wants to say it to her, but he strongly thinks that she'll die from the accident. He's just confused right now." Nick finishes. I didn't know he was such a love expert.
"Well then," I whisper, clearing my throat, "C'mon Y/N. Wake up!"
