CORY'S POV

"We actually have a gift!" Nick tells her, motioning towards the jar of cookies I was holding on to. I let a 'humph', and hold out the jar to Y/N. She looked from Nick, to me, to the cookie jar.

"N-no, I-I couldn't!" She stammers. I adjust my camera lens. I'm actually surprised she was okay with that! Most people just mumble incoherent sentences about me, anxious to get away.

"I insist." I speak up, Nick and Y/N raise their eyebrows. I didn't exactly do more than grumble a couple phrases while we were here.

"I INSIST AS WELL! WE NEED MORE SWEETS!" A voice cries out excitedly, slamming the doors out behind her.

"H-hey Tessa . . ." Y/N says quietly. Tessa. So that's the other girl's name.

"Are you her roommate?" I ask Tessa. She nods enthusiastically.

"Of course I am! What else would I be?!" She laughs. I just started listing the options inside my head.

"Well it's very nice to meet you, Tess. Er, can I call you that?" Nick asks, making sure it was okay. Sometimes I feel like this guy is too polite.

"Of course! Y/N calls me 'T', just because! So who are two?" Tessa says eagerly, taking the jar out of my hands.

   "Nick!" My friend announces.

"Cory." I say bluntly. Tess lets out a 'heh'.

"You seem like the life of the party!" She giggles, getting one out of Y/N to.

"That's because I am." I state, a smirk sliding onto my lips. Nick chuckles, patting my shoulder.

"Sure are," Was all he says.

"Actually, why do you have a camera for a face?" Tessa asks, though her face showed no sign of confusion, unlike her voice.

"I was born with it, thank you very much." I grumble, half-annoyed. She shrugs, going towards the kitchen.

"Well, if you want some lunch, I highly suggest you go to the table." Tess calls over shoulder. Me and Nick glance at each other and shrug, taking a seat at the four-person table. Y/N smiles at us and runs towards the kitchen to help with the meal.

[YOUR POV]

After me and T finished the meal, a magnificent [Favorite Meal], we served a plate of it to all four of us. Then we ate it, with the boys chirping happy comments on our cooking. It honestly made my heart flutter!

"So Y/N!" Nick says, taking another bite of the meal, "I know it's an odd question, but why do you stutter?" I took a sip of my [Favorite Flavor] milkshake. It did strike me as an odd thing to ask.

"Well—" I start, being cut off my Tessa. I shoot her a 'really?' look. She just shrugs, wiping her mouth with her napkin.

"She only stutters when she's being shy, or uncomfortable." Tess explains eagerly. I didn't expect any more.

"She just met you, so she's being shy. Simple as that." The two boys put on an 'oooh' face.

"Well, I hope you become comfortable around us soon enough." Cory tells me. Tessa, for whatever reason, eyes him suspiciously.

"But wait a minute," Nick says, "Why does she stutter around you?" Tess laughs.

"Here's a good question!" She grins deviously. "Do I make you comfortable?" Nick blinks, exchanging slightly nervous glances with Cory.

"Thought so." She snickers, gathering our empty plates, as we had finished eating. Tessa disappears into the kitchen, dropping the plates into the sink.

"She is weird." Cory whispers. I shrug.

"Y-you think? I live w-with her." I joke, giggling. The boys let out a chuckle.

"You said so yourself Cory! You meet plenty of interesting characters in the city." Nick states, shrugging in his usual happy attitude. Quite similar to Tess', actually!

"Well, I-I better g-go h-help T-T-Tessa with th-the dishes." I excused myself from the table and headed over to where my roommate was.

"Which one?" I raised an eyebrow at this.

"W-what do y-you mean?" I ask, puzzled.

"Which one makes you more comfortable?" She asks, handing a dish to put into the dishwasher.

"U-um. . ." I try to think. They were both equal, sort of. Polar opposites, but best friends, just like me and Tess.

"Don't know? Don't worry, we'll find out soon enough."
