"You see it too, don't you? The way that Mark looks at Matthew, he's in love with him. I don't want to lose my soulmate, Sean. I've literally known him personally for three days and I've never felt more in love. And you don't even know what I'd do if that asshole broke your heart. He's not taking anyone from anyone, and he certainly isn't hurting you in the process."

Nathan Smith felt so protective whenever he saw Mark anywhere near Matthew. He would walk up, wrap his arm around his soulmate and talk about how beautiful he was.

Did Mark not understand that he was hurting Sean? Did he not see the tears forming in his broken eyes whenever Mark talked about Matthew in a conversation? He was being an asshole and didn't seem to know it.

Nathan wasn't great with confrontation, but he had come to the understanding that he had to if he wanted to solve anything.

"Mark, we need to talk," the ebony haired teenager's voice was deep and serious, "alone, please, beautiful," anger swelled inside his chest when he found Matthew with Mark.

"What's up?" Mark smirked, brown eyes just screaming that he knew what Nathan would be talking about.

"Stay away from Matthew. I see the way you look at him, you're eye-fucking him every time you catch his eye," Nathan spoke calmly, voice raising when he heard Mark's next words.

"No, why would I? I love Matthew, and I've known him much longer than you have. I can make him so much happier than you can," he snorted.

"Listen, you red headed punk: Matthew doesn't need this drama in his life. No one that perfect deserves to go through the shit storm he would be faced with if you two started dating. He's my soulmate, in his soulmate. He loves me, and I love him," Nathan hissed, trying his best not to lose confidence. What if Matthew didn't love him? Would he leave him for Mark if he found out how he felt about him?

"Please! Matthew is smart enough not to fall in love with someone he's known for only a few days. I read something, Nathan, you don't have to marry those who are your soulmate. It's propaganda bullshit! This shit doesn't matter!" Mark laughed, "he's mine. Matthew is mine, and pretty soon he'll know that too. Matthew doesn't love you, Natey, but he will learn to love me."

"You're crazy, shut up. He-he-" Nate looked like he was losing hope when something snapped into his mind.

Sean and Matthew are the only ones that matter right now.
Not my emotions,
Their emotions. Their safety.

"I will fucking kill you if you ever pull any shit that hurts Sean. He was so hopelessly in love with you even before all of this happened. You were all he wanted in a person, and you should've seen how happy he was when he found out that you were his soulmate. The tears in his eyes weren't made up of sadness, you heartless piece of shit! And what about Matthew? Judging by your statements, he doesn't love you either. You can't force someone to love you, Mark. Maybe he doesn't love me, but I won't force him too. You're delusional if you think I'd even let you try to force him into anything he wasn't comfortable with. Leave them alone, or the red in your hair won't be from dye."

Mark growled, not in the slightest thrown off by Nathan's threats. They just pissed him off even more.

---

Matthew was laying on his bed, shivering in the cold room. He hadn't seen Nathan or Mark all day, the two of them hadn't even texted him.

Just when he was about to fall asleep, there was a soft knock on the bedroom door.

"Good morning, princess. You up?" the brunette's heart fluttered at the sight of Nathan. His soulmate walked in with a glass of water and an apple, which he gladly accepted before patting the space on the bed next to him.

"Kinda sleepy, but I'm okay. Where were you and Mark today?"

Nathan looked deeply into the soft brown eyes of his soulmate and knew he couldn't lie.

"We got into a fight, over you."

"Me? Why is that a subject to be fighting over? I'm your soulmate, kind of supposed to be with you."

An emotion similar to hurt passed over Nathan's eyes, "that's not t-the only reason, right?"

"Of course not! I love you, with or without a tattoo. I feel like what we have is truly real, even if the tattoos are fake," Matthew smiled gently.

"Wait, you knew about the-"

"I'm not dumb, my prince. I know I could easily date Mark, but I don't want to. I love you, and I don't want to talk about him right now. I want to sit in your lap and count your freckles."

So Matthew straddled his 'soulmate', putting a soft figure up to his face and beginning to count the freckles one by one. It was therapeutic to hear him mumble numbers under his breath, kissing Nathan every ten freckles.

short chapter but there's drama and stuff in the next one, apologizes
