Ok I always knew I was different from everyone at school. I mean when you have bright red hair with golden eyes which make you look like you're on fire, and sparks seem to fly from your fingers when you're angry and when you're taller than all the girls at school, you start thinking you're different. But I never guessed how much that difference meant until that day.
Also another fact that got me suspicious was that even though my father is dead (I know that's supposed to be sad but I don't even remember ever having a father so it doesn't hurt so much) and my mother doesn't do any kind of job, we're never out of money. Money literally falls out of trees at my home and my mom used to say that god helps us by throwing it in trees but who would believe that? So I climbed that tree once and well, I fell down and didn't even remember we had a tree in our garden until I was allowed to walk. So due to that accident I'm now scared of heights and don't question the falling of money from trees.
Maybe I should tell something about myself. I'm a girl, I'm 17 years old, I'm a senior in high school and my name is Kaycee Mirren. My house is on the outskirts of the city, I don't know why but I guess my mother doesn't like us socializing too much, she doesn't let me or my sister go for sleepovers nor does she let us invite people for sleepovers. That's about all I know about me.
Now for my family. My mother is a woman who hates socializing and doesn't like to exert herself to make people like her. She doesn't care what people think of her and lives her life like she wants to. Her name is Alice, and it doesn't suit her. About my father I know nothing and I never asked about him either.
And then there is my sister, Grace Mirren, we are twins but don't look alike, think alike or even dress alike. Grace has green eyes but she has brown hair and is a bit shorter than me. She is the most calm and patient person I've ever known, mom says she is just like dad, while I took after her, I'm stubborn, short tempered and headstrong. She didn't even send me and my sister to the same school because she felt we both had to develop our personalities on our own and not depend on each other. I think this was because she thinks I overshadow Grace or something. Both Grace and I are made fun of at our schools a lot, me because of the reasons previously stated, and Grace, because, well, she's easy to make fun of. Mom has never had to solve my problems for me because I take care of them easily. She used to bully the kids who made fun of Grace till she told her she could handle it herself but the truth is it was uncomfortable for Grace when the kid who called her dumb was found hanging by his tie from the fifth floor of the school building the next day or when the girl who called her a coward went missing for 2 days and came back muttering about unicorns and dragons. And if you are wondering, yes, my mother is violent, a lot.
