Next morning
Toni POV: I woke up and their was a bouquet of Roses. On my pillow with my favorite chocolate. Kenny was standing there.
Toni: what is this for, because this isn't going to make up for anything
Kenny: I know I'm sorry baby
Toni: do you think it's ok for every time you get drunk to grab on your wife
Kenny: no baby it's not ok. A man should never touch a woman in that way.
Toni: Then why do you do it to me. Kenny I'm your wife. Your supposed to love, protect, and respect me and your doing opposite
Toni: what would do if another man hit me
Kenny: he wouldn't be able to walk when I got through with him
Toni: exactly but it's ok for you to hit me when your drunk
Kenny: no it's not okay
Toni takes her wedding ring off and gives it to Kenny
Toni: I did a lot of thinking last night.
Toni starts crying
Toni: I love you with all my heart, but I'm not going to allow you to hit me when you had one to many drinks. So I called Keri and told him I'm not doing the rest of the tour because of personal issues. I'm going home with you today, were sleeping in separate bedrooms from now on. If you want to stay married to me your going to counseling.
Kenny: ok sweetheart
Toni: get out so I can get dressed
Kenny left and went in the living room. Toni slammed the door shut and started getting dressed. They flew back to Atlanta and made it to the house.
Toni: you have an appointment with a marriage counselor here's the address.
Kenny POV: I drove to the marriage counselor office. I was greeted by a nice woman she took me in the room.
Counselor: so your wife called me and told me the problem in your marriage. She said it's a lot of verbal disrespect and physical disrespect tell me about it.
Kenny: Me and my boys go out a lot. Me and alcohol are total opposites. If I have a couple of drinks I get really drunk and it causes me to make bad choices.
Counselor: how many times have you grabbed on her or pushed her forcefully
Kenny: about three and last night I grabbed her
Counselor: when things get physical what happens
Kenny: I never put my hands on my wife sober. I'll be drunk will get into a big argument, I never punched her, I've pushed her before, I slapped her twice.
Counselor: What happens once you hit her
Kenny: she cries
Counselor: How do you feel when you see her crying. Because she has been hit by the man that promised to love her. The man that promised who would protect her. The man that she looks up to.
Kenny starts crying he buries his head in hands. The counselor grabs tissue, and goes and sits by him she rubs her hand up and down his back.
Counselor: it's ok. I can tell your a great man and a great husband. We all mess up sometimes. Are you an addict to alcohol
Kenny: No I drink sometimes but not often
Counselor: most men that I see that have hits their wives are missing something in their marriage. That they want more of. What are you want more in your marriage.
Kenny: sex
Counselor: Talk to me about it
Kenny: we Both are very busy people. The only reason my wife had sex with me this weekend is because it was our anniversary. If we do have sex, all she does is lay there she doesn't moan or anything, and it's been that way for a while. The only reason she has sex with me is because I want it, she doesn't.
Counselor: have you tried to put yourself in your wife shoes
Kenny: no
Counselor: what woman wants to have sex with a man that hits her
Kenny: *sighs* your right
Counselor: Kenny she's your wife, when everything is fails she's the only one that you can always trust. Don't make her feel less important. During arguments be careful of the words you say, and if you feel like any argument is getting to heated there is nothing wrong with walking away and getting yourself together then come back later and try to finish the discussion.
Kenny: yes mam
Counselor: most importantly you see that Alcohol makes you a person that you are not. Stop drinking it. I used to have an addiction problem and I'm telling you from experience Alcohol is going to do nothing but take a bad situation and make it worse.
Kenny: yes mam
Counselor: Even though Toni made you come here. It takes a real man to sit here and admit his wrong doings I'm proud of you.
Kenny: thanks
They hugged and Kenny left.
Kenny POV: after I left the counseling office I decided I just needed some alone time. I went to one of my old houses, and worked on some songs. I realized it was midnight then I left and headed back home.
Kenny walked in and looked on the couch Toni was sleep with the tv on. He turned off the tv and picked her up.
Kenny POV: she said earlier that she wanted to sleep in separate beds. I brought her up to the guest bedroom and pulled the covers back. I put on her pajamas and put her in the bed. She started screaming I woke her up.
Toni: *crying*
Kenny: baby calm down you just had a bad dream, lay down.
Toni laid down
Kenny: it's alright baby *kisses her forehead*
Toni: can you sleep in here I'm scared
Kenny: yeah
Kenny POV: I took off my shirt and pants. I know she didn't want me in the bed. I got some covers out the closet and made me a pallet on the floor and laid down. Toni threw a pillow down for me to use.
(Next morning)
Toni POV: I woke up and looked down. Kenny was on the floor sleep. I got out the bed and looked down he was soaked in sweat. I got down on my knees and started shaking him to wake him.
Toni: Kenny *shaking him*
Toni: baby what's wrong wake up for me baby
Toni started to panic
Toni POV: Come on Toni you went to school to be a teacher. You learned how to stay calm during emergency a. I checked him there was no pulse. I started to give him mouth to mouth CPR.
Toni: baby wake up can you hear me
Toni started crying
Toni: I have to get you to a hospital.
Tamar walked in the house using her key.
Tamar: Toni and Kenny are y'all home!
Toni: Tamar come upstairs quick something wrong with Kenny!
Tamar ran upstairs
Tamar: oh my gosh what's wrong
Toni: *crying* I don't know, he's not breathing.
Tamar: let's get him to the car!
