A New Life

Nero

"Standard orbit Mr. Crusher." Said the Captain.
"Standard orbit around Slivia."
"Lt. Seni to the bridge." Said Ryker.
"Yes sir." Was what we heard.
A few minutes later Mare arrived on the bridge.
"We have entered orbit around Silvia." Said Picard.
"Open a channel." Said Mare.
"Channel open." said Worf.
"Greetings King Tiberius, and Queen Samos. I am Mare of house Seni third house in the royal line, daughter of Maven Tiberius and Evangeline Seni."
"Greetings Mare Seni. What business do you have here?"
"I am the sister of the recently deceased Thalia Seni. I am here to take custody of her child."
"I see. As you know we most do a DNA check to ensure the child's safety."
"Of course your majesty."
"We have sent the coordinates to your computer. Please beam down when you are ready."
"Thank your Majesty."
With that communications ended.
"Sir with your permission I will beam down immediately."
"Granted."
"Um sir... Please don't do anything while in orbit. Don't communicate with them unless it is absolutely necessary. They don't really like strangers."
"Understood."
"Thank you."

A few hours later
I stood around waiting for Mare to beam back up. She had told me about her sister's kid a few times. As far as I could see the kid was a bit crazy. She had never left the planet. She didn't know anyone outside of her family. Apparently she is an engineer. She also likes to build explosives. This might be a bit dangerous for the ship. She was going to be staying with us in our quarters. Mare told me to keep an eye on her so that she doesn't hurt anyone or anything including herself. Her name is Nero Provos. And like all Silvians she has a special ability. Her's is 'Teleportation'. She has the ability to rip a hole in space and step through it to a nearby location. I'm not sure what the range is exactly but she can go pretty far. I've never met her but I've heard plenty of stories about her. She can be a bit of a trickster.
Just then Mare communicated.
"Captain. I am ready to beam aboard with my niece. However she said that she would prefer to arrive using her own methods. She doesn't like the transporter, nor does she trust it. Is that okay?"
"Very well, just make it quick."
"Yes sir. I will beam aboard first."
A few moments later Mare was aboard and back on the bridge.
"Where is your niece?" Asked Ryker.
"She's coming." Mare said smirking.
Suddenly a black 'door' appeared in front of Picard. And a girl about 15 years old stumbled out. She was smiling.
"Hello!"
Red alert sounded.
"Sorry." She said.
"Cancel Red alert." Said Picard, "Who are you?" Asked Ryker.
"Ah. I am Nero of house Provos," She said bowing. "Daughter of Thalia Seni and Cal Provos, niece of Lt. Mare Seni. At your service. I assume that you are Captain Picard and you must be Commander Ryker."
"Yes. Welcome aboard." Said Picard.
"However your methods of arrival are a bit unorthodox." Said Ryker.
"Yeah sorry about that."
"Why couldn't you just use the transporter?"
"Um.... well you see for some reason the way a transporter transports someone triggers a sorta mental and physical safe guard and I will just 'teleport' back to my previous location. The range of my abilities is further then the Enterprise transporter. Although the further I go the more energy it takes."
"Fascinating." Said Data.
"It is nice to meet you all. I won't bother you, just show me to my quarters and I'll be out of your hair. And I'm assuming that I'm with Mare and Sela. Thank you for letting me aboard."
"I'll show her out." Said Mare.
"Good day." She said bowing.

Nero's POV
"Wow... This ship is huge!" I said.
"Yes it is. Now behave yourself. I won't be around most of the time so we need to find you someone to be with. We don't want a repeat of what happened last time you had a 'problem'. You also need a medical exam from Dr. Crusher. I'll take you there now. Do you want me to tell her about you condition?"
"Well it should show up in the test but if not I will."
"Promise me you will."
"I promise."
"Good. Here we are."

Sickbay
The sickbay was huge. There was glass everywhere. I loved it. It was so much brighter than my house. I liked the clarity. I woman with red hair and a blue uniform walked up to my aunt.
"Hello Lt." She said, "This must be your niece. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too." I said.
"You look to be around my son's age. How old are you?"
"15. My birthday was yesterday."
"Happy late birthday. Now I assume you are here for your medical exam?"
"I guess I am. Yes."
"Good let's get started."

That evening
"So Nero... How do you like the Enterprise so far?" Asked Sela.
"It's really big. I like it. It is a lot brighter than back home."
"I'm glad you like it here." Said Mare.
"I'm getting tired." I said yawning. " I'll see you in the morning. Goodnight."
"Goodnight." Said Mare and Sela.
I wandered off into my room and almost instantly fell asleep.

Mare's POV
I lay awake wondering what would happen when everyone found out about Nero's mental condition. She had kept it a secret for so long. She could be dangerous without medication. If she didn't take it she was capable of almost anything. I was somewhat worried. I hope everything runs smoothly...

I also want to mention that the characters Mare and Nero (and their entire race) are based off of the book series Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. All but three of the names (Nero, Thalia, Seni) were from her book.  There will be a few other things that will be from the book. So just let me say... All parts of this story that in some way take from her book were inspired. I will not be using anything other than names, powers, and silver blood.

Sorry that this took so long. I just couldn't think of what to write. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.
