"Beca Mitchell?" "Thats me!" I turn around, startled by the sound of my own name. "I'm Stephanie, and I'll be your 'boss'." She quotes with her fingers. I shake her hand. "Okay so we're gonna start with a quick tour, I'll introduce you to the staff and then we'll get you started." "Sounds good."

Stephanie first explains to me some history of the restaurant in which I kinda just nod and say "cool". We walk around the hostess stand where I will spend some hours, and then head around by the bar. Stephanie explains the vast alcohol section before we proceed into the kitchen. "Ladies, this is Beca." She announces. "She is our new hostess and bartender." Various hi's and hello's come from the group as they give small little waves. "This is Jeslin, Breana, Mara..." Stephanie introduces me to them one by one, half of which their names I have already forgotten, or wasn't even listening to, except for one. "...and this is Chloe." Chloe is something I have never seen before in my life. A stunning redhead, with big sparkly blue eyes. She looks like she belongs on a runway, or red carpet, but here she is, working the same job as scrawny little me. "Hi!" she exclaims, offering me her hand. I take it in my own and give it a polite shake. "Nice to meet you all." I say following Stephanie back out of the kitchen towards the bar.

She explains to me how to get drinks and such and how I gotta watch out for minors, and ID anyone who looks like one, and the rest of the night went on pretty easily.

It was Friday night and most all the waitresses needed drinks for at least one of their customers. This kept me mostly occupied as I watched my mentors Justin and Kate work their job. Chloe was the waitress I saw up here the most often, but I don't know if I was really keeping close track of the others. Every time Chloe came over, she had the same bubbly and cheerful smile across her face, I think thats why I noticed her more. "One Margarita, salt on the rim." I say setting it on her tray. "Thank you Beca!" She says sending a playful wink my way. I nod and turn back around to my next task. It could just be me, but I think there's something special about Chloe. I don't have her figured out yet, considering the fact that I just met her, but for some reason cannot keep my eyes off of her. Even with another task at hand, I keep finding my eyes wander back into her general direction.

I could tell we were nearing closing time, as many of the waitresses bid their goodbyes to us behind the counter, saying they'd see us later or to have a good night. I didn't see Chloe for the rest of the shift.

It was 9:50ish when Stephanie came back from the hostess area saying she'd show me how to punch out and stuff. I followed her back into the kitchen where the little punch machine was. I typed in my number- 9-0-6-4, and heard a chime. "That means you're all set!" She says patting me on the back. "Thank you for showing me everything." I give my usual closed mouth smile. "No problem, it is my job after all. We'll see you on Sunday!" I nod, taking a breath and head into the stock area as Stephanie leaves the kitchen.

I'm the only one left, as all the other purses and bags are gone. I grab my jacket and sling my over-the-shoulder bag over my head. I head towards the back door leading to the lot I parked in and head out into the crisp fall air. There is a street light towards the end of the alley about 15 yards in front of me and I can make out a figure standing at the end of the sidewalk by the street. I take a closer look realizing it's Chloe, instantly picking out her unique red hair. I felt the urge to go ask her if she needed a ride home, but she looked like she was waiting for someone. I got in my car keeping a close eye on her and pulling up a little closer and rolling down my window. Just as I was about to Chloe, a black Prius pulls up with the passenger window rolled down, and a stern looking man looks at Chloe. "Get in." He says irritatedly. He catches my eye through the windshield as Chloe gets in and hooks her seatbelt. Then looking at her, he grabs her face and kisses her aggressively. I cringe watching the discomfort Chloe must be in. Or maybe she likes it. Coming out of the kiss, the man shoots me another glare and wipes his mouth, the proceeding to speed off. I take a breath. Watching Chloe be kissed like that makes me wonder if she's content in her relationship with whoever that was. If I was in her shoes, from what I just witnessed, I would be out of that relationship. But then again, I don't know Chloe, maybe she likes it.
