What the Romance Came to Be

Chapter 1 The First Day

Riley's P.O.V~

"The first day of school is here and I'm freaking out. I'm going to a new school where I don't know anybody and you are asking me if I'm okay..... Really Mom. How can I be remotely okay when I'm going to my new school? I'm already nervous enough please don't add to my stress." After that talk with my mother, she left the room to let me get ready for my first day of school. After about 20 minutes of my morning routine, I go downstairs, grab an apple and hop into the car waiting for my dad to drive me to school. After waiting for what seemed like hours, he finally got into the car and drove me to school.

Walking into the school for the first time was so awkward because I honestly didn't know where I had to go so I just followed the crowd and ended up in the gymnasium. Good thing there were signs for each grade level or else I would've been stuck with the 8th graders considering my luck. I finally made my way to the 6th graders and sat down by myself waiting for the teachers to arrive and take us to our classrooms.

While immersing myself in awkwardness I notice a boy standing in the middle of what seemed like a huddle and I couldn't take my eyes off of him. I was really new to the whole romance and crush thing but the moment I saw him.... I knew that by the butterflies in my stomach, he was my newly discovered crush or attraction cause I don't think that qualifies as a crush. He had the most beautiful hazel eyes I have ever seen. Finally, after what seemed like hours of staring at the boy, the teachers finally arrived and took us to our home rooms.

I walked into the classroom and was happily surprised that my unnamed crush was in my class. Once we finished unpacking and getting our lockers the teachers started assigning the seats and I just so happened to be placed next to my crush. Since the teachers didn't know our names, each student had a name tag on their desks and I just so happened to see that my crush's name was Talon Mate.

Talon's P.O.V~

When I first arrived at school, I immediately found my new group up friends and started talking to them. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw this girl with the most gorgeous face I'd ever seen. I didn't want it to seem like I was staring so I adverts my eyes to the group of people I was talking to. The teachers arrived shortly after. We were then taken up to our classrooms and unpacked everything.

Then I found out that the teachers were gonna assign seats and I thought that it was lame until I had found out the girl I thought had a pretty face sat down next to me. I was pleasantly surprised but I played it off cool with my signature smirk. Then I had realized that I didn't know her name so I looked at her name tag and discovered it was Riley Haye. She looked so innocent and that made me want to tease her.

As each class went by, I realized more and more things about Riley. She seemed liked one of those delicate creative girls and was very shy. She hadn't spoken a word to me the whole day so I decided to initiate a conversation with her.

"So...... you're pretty quiet aren't you?"
She looked a little startled but she replied,"I don't usually talk when it's unnecessary."
Her voice was so soft that I could barely make out what she was saying.
After hearing her response I decided to tease her a bit by saying "So talking to me is necessary then." Immediately after she heard this, her face turned a light shade of pink and she became a little flustered. Then she got her composure back and replied " I'm simply talking to you because you started a conversation with me and it would be rude to ignore you."

After her comeback, I decided to give her a little space to calm down.

Riley's P.O.V~

The first thought that went through my head when he started being arrogant was... "Why do all the good looking ones have to be such jerks." After that.... my crush or attraction died a little bit. He was outright annoying and clearly very full of himself. The day went on without either of us speaking to each other again which really didn't matter to me. When it was time to go to P.E (seriously who even has P.E in the first day of school) I ran into a girl that was about the same height as me. I apologized and she forgave me and introduced herself. She said her name was Alice Covet. We chatted as we walked into the gym. As soon as we walked in, our P.E teacher Mr. Zalos or Mr.Z started talking to us about what is expected of P.E class which was basically you have to participate and that you have to wear the proper attire. Finally, he told us that we were playing dodgeball today to which half the class groaned. He chose team captains where were Talon and this guy named Tim. When all the boys were chosen, the Team Captains started choosing girls and surprisingly I was Talon's first girl pick while Alice was his second. The game went on smoothly I think,(I was too busy watching Talon annihilate the other team.) Since P.E was the last period of the day, we all went home exhausted.
