What the Romance Came to Be

Chapter 4 The Halloween Dance

Riley's P.O.V~

Once my mom had dropped me off, I immediately saw Alice and Niagara waiting for me. I hurried along to where they were and we went into the building. It was my first time at a dance so I was both nervous and excited about it. We went in and I was overwhelmed by how the decorations looked and how many people in there. Since everybody was wearing costumes, it was pretty hard to tell who was who. When Alice and Niagara asked if I wanted to go dance, I politely declined saying that I was a horrible dancer. Though I didn't want to ruin their fun so I told them they could go dance. I was feeling a little bored by myself so I decided to go get something to drink. Then someone dressed as a knight came up to me and asked if I would dance with him. So, I used the same excuse I told Alice and Niagara but, he just wouldn't give up. Finally, I got way too annoyed with him and decided to give in and dance with him.

The music that was playing was a slow song and we had to dance like those romantic movies always show. It was pretty awkward considering I didn't know the guy but I tried my best to hide my awkwardness. Surprisingly, I didn't step on his feet even once and that for me was a great accomplishment. After the song was over, he complimented my dancing and accused me of lying that I was a horrible dancer. I replied" Well, usually I would've stepped on your feet like 100 times but, I guess you were lucky. Or that you are and great dancer and a great lead." The guy said" Well thanks for the compliment." Then I remembered that I didn't know this person so I asked him for his name. He didn't answer for a couple of seconds then he said, " It's a mystery for you to find out, babe." Before I could comment on the fact he called me "babe,"he disappeared. 

Talon's P.O.V~

As soon as I walked into the dance, I noticed Riley just standing there alone. I don't know why but I had this sudden urge to go talk to her. And before it even registered in my mind, I asked her to dance with me. She immediately replied that she was not a good dancer but I wouldn't give up till she danced with me. She eventually gave in and we headed towards the dance floor. We danced to a slow song and it was one of the most amazing feelings in the world dancing with Riley. After we danced, we had a short conversation and then she asked me for my name. I sort of panicked a little bit because I didn't want her finding out I liked her so I told her she had to find out for herself and rushed out the door.

The rest of the dance was pretty uneventful for both Talon and Riley. The one magical thing that happened that night was the dance they shared together........
