I always thought it was weird looking at people for the first time, even if they were random people you never have and never will talk to. I can't help but wonder what their names are, what they're interested in, do they have any siblings? Don't you ever look at someone and its just like why do they exist? Do they have a special purpose in life, are they gonna do great things?
"... and you can wear it with these heels!"
I uncrossed my eyes and set them on Lou who was holding a pair of what looked like black heels that I would no doubt break my neck in and a tiny black fabric that looked like it would barely cover my chest.
"Don't you think that's a bit too, revealing, for a ball thing? It's not a nightclub." I stated cautiously.
I was currently dress shopping with Lou, the boys hair stylist, and I once again zoned out into my 'wonders of life' thoughts. Can you blame me though? After going to 3 stores and trying on countless dresses, it gets a bit boring.
Lou sighed, "you want to impress Nathan don't you?"
"Lou, I wanna impress him not provoke him to have sex with me," I scoffed, "besides, I don't really need to impress him."
"You're so infuriating, we've been to three stores and you've liked absolutely none of the dresses, you have to pick one eventually, the event is tonight!"
"And I will pick one," I sighed.
None of the dresses that I've seen so far have actually caught my attention, they're either too fancy, too trashy, too over the top, or plain out ugly. Don't get me wrong, I actually don't mind wearing a dress, I'm just a bit picky on what I wear, especially when I'm going to be judged by millions of other girls. Girls can be too cruel.
With a dramatic sigh and a wave of the arms, Lou went back to hunt down potential dresses and I took that as my cue to do the same. I walked three aisles over to the only area in the store that we haven't yet browsed through.
I don't want a dress that's too long, but I don't want one that's too short either. A colorful dress isn't a complete no for me but I would prefer a completely black or white dress without any attachments. Huge flowers or bows are a huge no, I don't wanna look like a walking garden.
I ran my hand along the rack of dresses and eyed each of them quickly waiting to see the one that would make me want to stop and examine it. If my own dress doesn't catch my attention, how is it going to catch anyone elses? I started getting completely frustrated and I smacked the dresses causing a gap to form between them and that's when I saw it.
It was pretty simple in all honesty, I don't even think it was suitable for a masquerade ball thing, but I like it. It's all black and it seems like it would go just above the knee for me. It had a lace kind of thing over the fabric that loosened around my hip, under the thin belt and lower, the short sleeves were lace as well. It seemed very conservative and it showed almost nothing. It could be a simple everyday dress, but it was perfect.
I grabbed the hanger from the rack while my lips formed a smile, the excitement was starting to hit me and with that I walked towards Lou.
"Found it?" She asked hopeful.
"Found it."

Having to sit around getting hair and makeup done for two hours is not fun whatsoever. I had insisted that it was completely unnecessary to have people 'groom me.' I could understand why I need the help of Lou, my hair isn't naturally amazing and I couldn't come up with a decent hairstyle to save my life, but the makeup artists? Totally uncalled for, especially since I don't really wear makeup on a regular basis and I can do without it.
