Draya brushed her hair, counting to one hundred as she readied herself for bed. "Hey sis?" Zero asked, knocking on her door gently before entering. Draya put her brush away, turning to face her sister, humming in acknowledgement. "Look, I'm going over to a friend's house for the remainder of the week tomorrow, do you think you'll be okay? I'll probably be back sometime Saturday..." Zero asked, concern evident in her eyes. Draya gave a small grin, but couldn't fully mask that she was upset over the fact she was going to be alone. "Yeah, I'll be fine. Go have fun, I'll probably invite Damon over or something. We still have an assignment to do anyways..." Draya trailed off. Zero's eyes narrowed and her face contorted into a look of unease and wariness, but she made no comment, only nodding before bidding her sister a "good night" and exiting her room. Draya raised an eyebrow, getting up and shutting off her light before slipping under the covers of her bed. 'I wonder why Zero seems so cautious of Damon... He's a good guy, but she acts like he's the opposite... Oh well, maybe she just doesn't want me around guys just yet...' Draya closed her eyes, allowing sleep to claim her.
Morning came to quickly for Draya. Her alarm was blaring, alerting her that it was 6:00 AM and time to get ready for another dreadful day of high school. She groaned, smacking the snooze button on her alarm and dragging herself out of bed. "Another day, another imaginary dollar." Draya muttered, starting her day.
"Toast?" Zero offered, handing her a piece as Draya rushed out of her room. "Thanks." Draya grinned, Zero winking as she got her own piece. "Now let's go!" Both girls shouted, laughing as they raced each other to the bus stop.
"No wonder they put you on the track team." Zero panted, finally catching up to her sister, plopping on the pavement. Draya only smirked, sitting beside her. "Good morning, ladies." A voice called, Draya smiling as Zero grimaced. 'Not him again...' Zero thought with disdain, giving Damon a small glare as he approached. He paid no mind to Zero, his main focus being Draya. Zero had known Damon as long as Draya, but she noticed an obvious change in him in the past couple of years, she was unsure how Draya didn't. Damon was only slightly older than Zero, who was seventeen, making him seventeen as well but closer to the age of eighteen than she was. 'I have no idea what you are up to, Damon, but if you try to harm my baby sister, it won't end well...' Zero thought, her eyes narrowing dangerously at the teen who was trying a bit too hard to charm Draya, growling lowly. "Hey sis, are you coming or what?" Draya asked, about to board the bus. Zero blinked before closing her eyes and exhaling deeply. She then opened her eyes and gave a fake but convincing grin. "Of course!"
Once school was over, Damon, Zero, and Draya returned to the Shinohara, well technically Vermilion, residence. Zero packed her necessities in her backpack, slinging it over her shoulder as she walked to the front door, where Draya and Damon were waiting. "Bye sis, take care okay? I'll be back Saturday." Zero said, hugging her sister tightly and placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. Draya laughed lightly, returning the hug as she murmured "you better" into her sister's shirt. Before leaving, Zero glanced over to Damon for less than a second. Her eyes widened a fraction at the smirk he gave her. She couldn't determine why he smirked at her, but it was making Zero rethink everything. Zero shook her head, exiting the house with a "see you later" and making her way to her friend's home. 'Maybe I won't be staying til Saturday after all...'
(A/N: I only have two more chapters to write in order to catch this little book up to date! This story is probably one of my lesser viewed stories, but I truly enjoy writing it and I hope my audience, no matter how small it may be, enjoys reading it. Thank you all for reading and I hope you all have a wonderful morning/afternoon/evening! Sayonara!)
