I sat at the lunch table before Veronica got to the table. I was writing a new message to "Daddy J." But I didn't know what to say. He just made me so nervous and full of happiness. I hovered my fingers over the keypad on my iPhone not knowing what to say. I then hear Veronica and Jaz arrive.
"Hey hoe." Veronica cheers.
I quickly lock my phone. "Hey." I smile.
"Who were you texting?" Jaz chuckles sitting down in front of me.
"Nobody." I lied.
"I know when a girl is texting a guy." Jaz smirks just like her damn brother. "And you got the reactions of it."
"Who you texting?" Veronica chuckles.
"No one." I hissed.
Veronica watched Jaz snatched my phone right away from me. She slid to unlock it and saw my empty message to Justin. She read the name, "Daddy J."
Veronica's head quickly snaps to my direction. "Who is Daddy J?" She says with a flirtatious voice.
"Nobody. Can you please give me my phone back?" I begged Jaz.
"It's my brother isn't it." Jaz smiles.
"He gave me his number today." I rolled my eyes.
"Yet you are trying to text him. Ironic." Jaz says handing my phone back to me.
"LAUREN." Veronica says slamming her palm on the lunch table. "What are you thinking?"
"I am thinking nothing." I huffed.
Veronica rambles on to herself before speaking. "Listen to yourself. You know who your brother is. And you know who Justin is. Why would you bring this upon yourself?"
"It's not like that." I spat.
"Then what is it?" Veronica asked cocking a brow trying to calm down.
I was silent. Have you ever been so hurt over something, that you can feel it in your chest and stomach. That was me at the current moment.
"You know if Derek finds out. Not only will you make your life a living hell but make their strong hate for one another bigger than it is." Veronica continues.
I say nothing as I get up from the lunch table and walk outside to the lunch tables outside. I sat quietly at one as I pull out my phone. I finally get the guts to text Justin.
"Hey fuck face." I typed as I pressed send. I took a deep breath trying to calm all my emotions at the moment. My phone buzzed.
"Let me guess. This is the innocent little Jauregui." He texted back.
I hated that my brothers gang brought so much shit to my life. I couldn't be Lauren. I had to be a Jauregui. Like I am my own person. I am nothing like the rest of my family. I typed back.
"The one and only." I pressed send. I then realized the bell rang to get to class. I got up quickly trying not to face Veronica again. My phone buzzed once more as I quickly opened my phone to read.
"So what do you need? I am a little busy." He typed.
I thought long and hard before typing, "Busy fucking? Typical. I actually just needed someone to talk to." I pressed send.
He quickly replies, "Lol nah. Business."
"You and business." I type back. Justin and all his business shit. I felt like this shit had something to do with me. Hopefully it wasn't though.
My phone buzzed once more. I walked into my class as I sat in a chair.
"You and asking me 20 damn questions. What do you want to talk about? Somebody hurt your wittle feelings." I rolled my eyes at his comment.
