Chapter 3

Stephanie woke up with smoke filling her lungs. She coughed trying to let it out, but the smoke was only getting worse around her. She rubbed her hair trying to get the pain out of head. She took in her surroundings to see all the trees on fire. There were horrifying screams coming from the pack house. Stephanie was frozen in place. Her hands rushed to her ears trying to block the screams.

Run! Her wolf was on the surface of taking over.

No, Stephanie said to her wolf, We have to go back!

Don't be stupid! Her wolf pushed even more forward and it took Stephanie all of her strength to keep from shifting. Once she had her under control she ran with all her strength to the pack house. When she finally had view of the house, she was horrified to see it up in flames.

There was fighting all around the pack house with wolves trying to flee the scene. She quickly accessed the battlefield. There were more rogues than her pack members. She saw heaps of dead wolves on the ground. She couldn't make out if they were rogues or from her pack. She ran closer to the house trying to find Claire or John. She couldn't think about their betrayal. She still cared for them. There were two huge wolves fighting in the center viciously. She recognized John's wolf. She rushed over ignoring every ounce of her body that told her to run away.

"Claire!" she screamed with all of her might. She kept screaming her name until her voice was going horse. The pack house was crashing down when Stephanie saw a body laying underneath pillars of wood. She rushed to the body and let out an anguish cry when she saw Claire. She was dead. Her eyes were lifeless and her hair soaked in blood. Her body was cold compared to the heated surrounding.

"Oh god no," Stephanie cried as she cradled Claire's head in her lap. Blood was everywhere.

"I'm so sorry," she said as sobs escaped her mouth.

Run.

There was a howl of victory that left Stephanie shocked. John was defeated. She turned her head and saw John's wolf laying lifeless with a wolf standing over him howling.

There was a cold shiver that rushed down her body. She couldn't stop her body from shaking from being so terrified. She was going to die. Every one of her pack members were dead. She was surrounded by rogues. They started to circle around her savagely baring their teeth at her.

The giant wolf who had fought John's wolf stood in front of them. He growled the loudest for all the wolves to back away. He transformed into his human and stood in front of her with the wickedest grin.

"You should of run," he said stepping closer. She wanted to crawl away, but if she moved any further away she would be in the fiery mess.

"Please!" she begged, snot was pouring all over her face and tears running down like a stream. His claws extended. Stephanie buried her head in her dead friend's neck.

"I believe I deserve a prize for my victory today," he said grabbing Stephanie by the hair to inspect her face. She was very appealing to the eyes.

"I won't kill you," he said feeling quite giving at the moment,"yet."

She felt disgusted by his words and the look he was giving her. Her let go of her friend as he pulled her up by the hair. He grabbed her by the arm, leaving bruises with his tight grip.

"Leave the dead bodies to rot!" Thorn shouted at his men, "Tonight we go home and celebrate our victory!"

Stephanie cringed at his words. Tears streamed down her face as she looked at John's dead body.

Thorn's men began to leave the scene. But Thorn stayed. He smiled at the scene in front of him. He saw victory while Stephanie saw defeat.

"No more crying, babe," Thorn said looking at his prize, "I put them all out of their misery."

She glared madly at him. If looks could kill, Thorn would drop dead. Anger erupted inside her. Her claws extended, but quickly retracted when she felt a slap to the face bring her back to reality.

"No, no my dear," Thorn said almost disappointingly, "We will have none of that. You will be a submissive mate."

"Take her," Thorn said motioning to two of his men. Stephanie felt a cloth bag placed on her head. The bag blinded her. She clawed at it as she felt a panic attack ensue on her from the stress of the situation. But she was quickly knocked in the head and relieved of her pain.

Her world became black and she hopped that she would not wake up.
