Jack ^

Stephanie walked out the front door to see fire burning down the houses and trees. There were wolves viciously attacking each other. The smoke and fire blurred her vision, but she didn't waste any time standing there. Something awoke in her. She ran back inside through the house to the bed room. She ran to Thorn's closet and pulled out one of his backpacks. She rummaged through his draws. She found some loose cash he had lying around. She then ran to her dresser draw by the bed and threw some of her clothes inside. Before she knew it she was running into the woods with no one stopping her.

She ran at a constant pace. She didn't slow down. She could feel her wolf slowly awakening inside of her. The screams and howls made her push on against her exhaustion. This was just like her old pack all over again.

She tried pushing the thoughts away from her. She could see Claire's face appearing into her head. She hated herself for not being there for Claire. But she couldn't think of her now. She shook her head to try to get rid of her thoughts. She needed to focus on running. Her wolf was starting to push forward making her running a lot faster.

She was a good mile and half from the house when she collapsed to the floor in excruciating pain. Her heart was beating at an uncontrollable speed. She grabbed at her neck when she felt a burning sensation hit her. It felt like someone was burning off the skin on her neck. She pulled her shirt away to try to see what the hell was going on. The mark that Thorn had forcefully placed on her was disappearing. The mark was being replaced with a scar. Thorn was dead.

Stephanie's body curled up into a ball as she tried hard to calm herself down. Although she was happy to finally have him out of her life, he was her mate. He wasn't her true mate though. With her hands still clutching onto her shirt, she weakly got up.

"Get it together," she said to herself. She wasn't going to stay here any longer. There was nothing left for her here. Who ever was attacking Thorn's pack could be no better than him. She refused to be captured again. She was a rogue now. She did not belong anywhere.

She began running again. It wasn't as fast as before. But she was getting somewhere. She could see a big gap in the ground ahead of her. She dragged her feet on the ground trying to stop herself. She stopped with less than a inch before falling off the cliff. She examined the bottom of the cliff to see rocks and a river at the bottom. She looked over for something to help her cross. There was nothing.

"Fuck!" she swore. She was in some deep shit now. She started running north to find a bridge or anything to help her cross over. As she was running she began to hear panting and thudding. It was coming her away. Before she could even recognize what was going on. Jack was standing before her.

He had the eyes of a killer. He watched her like she was his prey. He was in his human form. There were open wounds and blood covering his body. His eyes were dark, nearly black. Stephanie knew that his wolf was on the edge of coming out.

"I- I killed him," he said, his fist were balled up. They were shaking violently. There was a grin placed on his face that was more wicked then Thorn's.

"I killed him." he said more so to himself in confirmation. He looked at Stephanie. She was his prize. "Now we can be together."

Stephanie eyes widen in shock, "You killed Thorn?"

"Yes, " he said walking closer to her. Every step he took forward she took back. She was on the edge of the cliff when he stopped, "Come with me, we don't have much time."

"What did you do?!" Stephanie faced scrunched up in disgust as she realized what Jack had done. Jack was a killer. He killed his own pack. All to get to her.

"The other pack members will come for us," he said reaching his arm out for her to grab. She looked at his arm in absolute disgust.  There was no way in hell she was going to be held captive again. Never again.

"I'd rather die," she said her voice was shaky.

She stepped backwards and let her body fall into the river. She had accepted her fate. If she was going to die she knew she deserved a painful one. It took a long ten seconds before her body hit the water. She missed the rocks on the surface. But her body scraped against the bottom. Scratches were left all over her body.

She refused to surface up for air. She let her body be carried down the river at a rapid pace. She wanted Jack to think she was dead. She wanted to be dead.
