Chapter 2

Picture of Claire ^

A month had passed since Stephanie's birthday. A month since she rejected her mate. A month since Liam went missing. At first no one noticed that he was gone, but then when he was called to help with training he did not show up. A note was then discovered in his bedroom that said he was leaving. He had gone rogue.

Stephanie felt guilty for this. Her rejection led to him leaving. Her wolf feared for her mate, Liam was no fighter. Without a pack to defend him, Liam was open to any other wolf attacking him. Liam was now a rogue.

Rogues do not belong to any pack. They are liars, manipulators, and bloodthirsty creatures. They are disgusting creatures who have no loyalties to anyone. She couldn't imagine how he would survive on his own out there.

Stephanie was shaken out of her thoughts when everyone at the kitchen table looked over at her.

"What?" she asked confused as she wasn't paying any attention.

"We are talking about John's birthday," Claire said, "You're in charge of food okay?"

"Okay," she said. She had not told anyone who her mate really was. Not even her best friend Claire. She trusted Claire completely, but there was something embarrassing to her about admitting that Liam was her mate.

John's 18th birthday was coming up which made Stephanie feel nervous. While Stephanie couldn't get Liam out of her mind, Claire stepped in and helped with the party planing. John swore that nothing was going to change between him and Stephanie. He was planning on rejecting his mate in order to be with her. He loved Stephanie and knew she would make an amazing Luna. Everyone in the pack loved her and respected her. She was also the best female fighter in the pack. Even with John's promises she felt nervous. She prayed that he would not meet his mate.

"Is everything okay?" Claire asked as she pushed Stephanie down a hall away from everyone. She was worried about her friend's behavior since her birthday. She was always spacing out in conversations and taking a lot more runs than usual.

"Yeah," Stephanie said more so trying to convince herself than Claire. She felt guilty for doing so, "I'm just nervous about John finding his real mate."

"John loves you," Claire said comforting her friend, "He would never leave you."

Claire's words meant a lot to Stephanie. Claire was always a loyal friend to her.

"You're such a great friend," she said as she pulled Claire into a tight hug.

"Now c'mon," Claire said grabbing Steph by the hand, "We got a party to plan."

A week later and the party was all set up. It was John's birthday and Stephanie took her time getting dressed. She told John she would meet him there, because she wanted to make sure she looked absolutely perfect tonight. She was putting on her heels when Claire walked in to the room.

"It smells so good in here," Claire said as she entered the room. Claire looked amazing. Her red hair was down in these beautiful curls and her make up was on point. The black dress she wore was sexy, but not slutty.

"We are going to be late," said Stephanie as she looked over at the clock.

"We are late," Claire said while checking herself out in the mirror one last time.

It took them ten minutes to walk to the pack house. The music could be heard from all the way down the street. There were pack members everywhere; all getting wasted.
