Being Human

Chapter 5

A loud growl broke the silence followed by a snort of laughter soon an angry shout followed, "Cassius don't laugh at me you jerk!" Angel's face was flushed red as she glared furiously up at Cassius who looked away laughing, she stomped her foot childishly but the male reached his hand over and ruffled her white hair.

"Let's find something for you to eat." She crossed her arms and turn her head away as she frown. "Considering how I forgot to get us some food, we're going to have to hunt or gather our own." He looked around the plains and scowled at the lack of signs of animals and vegetation.

His eyes squinted for a moment behind Angel before he grinned causing the nymph to turn what he was staring at only to quickly scooted herself closer to the taller male when she saw huge creatures approaching them in fast pace, her hands gripped tightly on Cassius's arm as she glanced over to the bandaged shoulder before looking over to see that the two of them were surround by humanoid creatures.

The top of them had human parts but at their waist wasn't human at all, they remind the nymph of the creatures that run in the fields, that are tame by the people. Horses, that what they remind the female as she stare at their lower waist, their bottoms were part of the horses but from the area where the neck of the horse should be is replaced by the human torso and above, Cassius began to speak loudly as his gold eyes bore each into every one of their forms.

"Centaurs and a whole pack of them."

The centaurs had ready their spears and drawn their bows at the pair. "Angel stay close." The female nod nervously as she tried to hide her face away from one of the male centaurs that were gazing at her. "Cassius, one of them is looking at me..." His eyes snapped away from one of the buff looking centaurs and aim themselves towards what Angel spoke of, his eyes narrowed dangerously as he carefully wrapped his arm around the small female.

"What are you humans doing astray from your pack?" Cassius raised an eyebrow at the oldest centaurs that spoke, he had a long gray beard and his hair was long and gray but below his body was the chestnut color of the centaur's lower waist with a black tail accompanied. He was the largest out of the group and he had more of authority aura then the other centaurs around him, his voice was deep and gruff as it held hostility towards them.

Cassius grimaced at the word human, he scowled and was about to retort until Angel moved in front of her guardian swiftly as her mind panic at the sudden movement. "W-We're sorry if we have crossed your border but," She looks directly into the larger centaurs dark brown eyes that were harsh and violent, her legs shake as if she was going to collapse but Cassius held her up as he stared down at her, waiting for her to speak.

"We aren't humans!"

Cassius shook his head at Angel's reckless behavior but he stayed silent, hoping to see the outcome of this situation that they had gotten themselves into. "If you say what you speak, then you both must prove that you are not human, magic is something that is common with few of the races, humans are one of them." Angel felt her heart drop as she knows that both she and Cassius had no proof to prove they aren't human, she glanced between the many centaurs that glare down at her expect the one single male that kept blankly staring at her.

"W-What if we don't have the proof?" The largest centaur raised an eyebrow before his light skin hand gesture to the group that had surrounded them. "If you fail to provide any proof then you will be detained and be forced to aid us until we see fit to release you or not."

"By aid, you mean to satisfy your lusty urges," Cassius spoke out as his hands move to Angel's shoulders before he tightened his grip on her shoulders while his eyes narrowed. "You see this little girl in my arms?" He gestured to Angel who shivered a bit from the sudden attention on her as she looked up at Cassius frightfully.
