Sequel to "A little bit of help" (July 2016), "A price to pay" (July 2016), "Not a Choice", "A Game of Chess", "Game Over", "Over and Out" and "Buried Feelings" (Isaac Lahey or Klaus Mikaelson)
You had known from the start that immortality came at a price. You had known that you would mourn your family and all your friends. You had known that you would outlive anyone you ever met. You had known that you would always be the one losing the other.
Isaac was not the first person you had loved and lost. He for sure wouldn't be the last either. But living on without people who should not have died already never got any easier.
You caught yourself forgetting once in a while that Isaac wasn't there anymore. Every morning when you woke up, you turned to your side and realized that he wasn't next to you anymore. Every day when you knocked on the door of the shower, you found out that the only other person who could keep it occupied wasn't there anymore. Every evening when you put your self cooked dinner on the table in the dining room, you swallowed because you would be the only one to eat it.
Scott tried his very best to make sure you wouldn't be lonely. He invited you for every pack meeting, even though you never said much. He asked you for advice, even though you had no more advice to give. "(Y/N)..." Scott placed a hand on your shoulder. "How can I help you?"
You took a deep breath. You had once again not heard a word of what had been said. You had no idea in what kind of trouble Beacon Hills was. You had no idea what the pack was planning on doing about it. "How did you get over her?" You looked up at the young werewolf boy next to you.
"I didn't have a choice." Scott swallowed and he bent his head. He folded his sweating hands and nervously he licked his lips. "This town needs me. My pack needs me." He paused for a moment. "I don't think I'll get the chance to mourn anytime soon." His voice was barely a whisper.
"I wish I could simply move on..." You spoke softly. "I wish I could flip the switch and could forget about everything that makes me miss him so much." You bent your head and Scott rubbed your back gently. "I'm way too old for the switch to work and even if I could have done so..." You paused for a moment and turned your face to the true Alpha who had been more than just a friend to you and Isaac. "I wouldn't want to be the reason you don't get the time to mourn."
Scott squeezed your shoulder and for a moment there was nothing but silence. "Is there something else we can do to help you?" Scott shook his head and shrugged his shoulders. "We can't bring Isaac back, but..."
"We can kill Klaus." You straightened your back and lifted your chin. "Or we can at least make sure he will never ever kill someone again." Your lips formed a straight line and your fingers curled up. "There won't be a shortage of allies at least." You stood up from your seat and a plan was already forming in your head.
"Are you sure there isn't another way to deal with this?" Scott had a frown on his forehead and he squeezed his eyes.
"No, there isn't." You shook your head. "Klaus won't stay away for the rest of my life. He won't let my next boyfriend survive. He will always keep hoping that I will come back to him and that I will forgive him all the horrible things he has done." You breathed in and out through your nose. "He's wrong and he needs to know that. He needs to die. He needs to suffer. He needs to bite the dust for once and for all."
"And what if it ends up with someone else dying?" Scott stood up from his seat too and you turned around with your eyebrows raised.
"You and the others aren't coming. I'm going to do this on my own. Either I die or he dies. And both will be fine."
