"For the next project I want you all to make pairs." The teacher let her eyes rest on you and you sighed.
You weren't good at making pairs. You weren't good at working together at all. You preferred working alone and knowing for sure that everything you did was either right or your own fault. You already wanted to stand up to explain the teacher that it was really better if you would work on your own when Scott McCall stood still in front of your table.
"Do you want to work together for this one?" Scott smiled his bright and enchanting smile and for a moment you were just staring at him with your mouth wide open.
"You want to work with me?" You shook your head.
Most kids in class didn't even bother asking you to work together anymore. They already knew that you would either make them promise to do exactly as they were told or would simply say no.
"Yeah, and I actually hope you want to work with me too." Scott cocked his head a little and you licked your lips.
Even though working together with people wasn't your strongest suit, you were really thinking about making an exception for Scott. You had spent more time than you had wanted staring at him and even you would call yourself silly if you would let this chance to spend time with him slip through your fingers.
"I've seen the way you look at me when you think I don't notice." Scott shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe we can see how things are between us and maybe working together can eventually become more?" He winked and you felt your lips curling up into a smile.
"That sounds perfect." You nodded and then you bit your lip. "I promise I'll do my best to behave."
Scott grinned. "No, just be you. I think I'll like that version best."
