Chapter Ten: The Rose Prince

First, I like to wish a very happy birthday to DragonGodAlex and this the gift I give to him. The pic above is my gift. The only regret I have in this pic, is I made him look cooler than me.... So, unfair..... T~T

The day after our picnic, I realize that I'm missing something since we moved to this town. But, what is it? I looked around and nothing same to be missing. I stop and sat down on my desk, I tried thinking but so I decided to write on my dairy. That's when it hit me... "MY DAIRY IS MISSING!!" I shouted; letting everybody know what happened. Then, the door slammed opened, revealing an exhausted Luke Elric. "What's*pant*the matter*pant*Rose?" Looking like he's going to collapsed any second. I decided to let him sit on the bed and I told him what happened.

"So, you lost your dairy?" Luke asked, now regain his breath. "Yeah. And the lasted time I saw it was in a box back at the city." I calmly panic. "If it's in a box, then your dad should know about it." Luke said. "You're right, Luke! Why didn't I think of that earlier?" I shot out of my sitting position. "Because you were in a panic-ky mode. I know that's not a word but it's appropriate." He said itt in a sarcastic way. "Oh, come on Mr. Sarcastic, let's go see my dad." We ran downstairs and to the kitchen, where Dad's cooking... "Scrambled eggs with tomatoes. I hate tomatoes..." I loudly whispered. "What did you say, Rose?" Dad heard me and turned his head towards me. "Nothing, Dad... Oh! I almost forgot. Dad, do you know where did I put my dairy?" I asked. Dad turned off the stove and faces me while scratching his head. "Well, come to think of it. The last time I saw it was in the attic, when we first moved here." Of course! The attic! Why didn't I think of that? "Thanks, Dad!!"

I rushed upstairs, to the door at the end of the hall, which leads to the attic. I opened it, when suddenly, the dust and cobwebs came flying into my face. "Ah! My eyes!" I rubbed my eyes and I slowly regained my vision. "Are you okay?" Luke asked, worriedly and I nodded. We went up the stairs to the attic.

We opened the lights, for us to have a better view of what we are dealing with. We looked around to see a dust-covered boxes and other junk. "There's even a huge cabinet here." I said, pointing at the antique cabinet. "That must have belonged to the previous owners of this house." Luke explained. I awed and remembered why we came up here. "Okay! Let's go find my dairy. Oh, Luke? If you found my dairy. DON'T read it." As I said the word 'don't' I give him my death glare as a little warning. "Don't worry, I won't read it." I nodded and we started to search the attic for my dairy.

One and a half hour went by and we still haven't found it. "Any luck?" Luke yelled. But, as I was about to answer; I lifted a dust covered book and there it was! My dairy! "Hey! Luke! I found it!" I waved my hand at him. "I'll be right there!" He slowly approached me. Not realizing that the dirty book was in my waving hand; dust started come flying everywhere. "Rose, are you okay?" Luke was now in front of me. "*cough* Yeah, I'm fine." I looked at the book in my hand and unconsciously read the letters that are not covered in dust. "Ro... ince...?" I swiped the dust off and read it again. "The Rose Prince...?" I muttered. "What's that?" Luke leans closer to have a better look. "AHH!! I remember now!!" I stood up and quickly went out the attic door." "Rose?!" I heard Luke, but, I kinda ignored him. I went straight to the kitchen and grab a dry towel; then I went to the living room and took a sit on the couch.

I cleaned of the remaining dust, revealing the cover. "The Rose Prince!" It has a prince knelt down on one knee; giving a white to a young lady. "I knew it!" I said, then Luke came down and sat next to me. At first he was calm, but, after a mere few seconds; he burst in fury. "WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME THERE!?!? I WAS SO NICE TO HELP YOU FIND YOUR DAIRY AND DID I GET ANY THANKS?? NO! I GET...?" He realized I was holding an old book. "The Rose Prince? What's that?" He asked. Finally!! "Well, this is a story that my mom used to read to me when I was three." I answered. "What's it about?" He asked a follow up question. "It about a prince who lived in a castle with a garden filled with roses in different colors and sizes." He then took the book out of my hands and scanned the pages quickly. "How does it end?" Looking at the last page of the book. "Well, the story ends with the prince finding his true love in the forest." I pointed at the picture with the prince and a girl getting married under an arc of with roses.

Luke looks more closely at the picture; then suddenly stood up and faces me. "Can I borrow the book for a while? I promise I'll bring it back to you tomorrow." He gesture his hand at me. I smirk a little and said. "I know you long enough to know, that you'll do something astounding related to this story. Right?" He chuckled and shook his head slightly. "I knew you would figure me out, Rose. It took you long enough. Just give me the book." I gave him the book. "Great! I'll return your book tomorrow. After, I'm done preparing everything; just meet me at our 'secret place' OK?" I nodded. He bowed at me with a goodbye, but, before runs to who-knows-where. He said. "Do you have clothes which are similar to the one in the book?" He pointed at the girl's sky blue dress and I nodded. He smiles and dashes to somewhere. I wonder what will he do tomorrow? Oh well, better to know for yourself.

*The Next Day*

I got up with an energetic expression. "Today's the day. The day, I'll find out soon..." But, I was shortly interrupted by Dad knocking outside my door, and after that he went inside. "Rose, I see you're awake. Here, Luke left this book and this note at our door." He gave me the book and the note. "Thanks, Dad." He smiles and went downstairs. I looked at the note and it says 'Please the clothes I asked yesterday. Make sure you look like the girl in the book...' After I have read the note, I went to my closet and wear a blue above the knee long dress with a white vest and fix my hair, to make it look like girl in the book. "I think that's good enough." I went downstairs and out the front door.

I close the door behind me, and I thought I thought I saw something bright red. So, I immediately turned around and picked up a single red rose with another note attached to it. Then, I read it. 'Follow the trail of rose.' I looked up ahead and saw another red rose, not that far from this one. "I think he wants me to follow this." With this one red rose in my hand, I started to follow the trail.

After a while, I reached the entrance of our 'secret place' and I notice that from this point on, there were no rose but only rose petals. "That's strange? I don't remember tis in the story?" But, I move onward into the tunnel. As I walked through the tunnel, I looked around and notice the rays of sunshine bursting through the tunnels ceiling. I awed at the beautiful sunlight. "Wow!" I admired it for I few seconds and continued walking. Moments later, I reached the end. A bright light blinded me for a second and as I regained my vision, I saw the tree with Luke besides it and a trail of petals leading to him. I went to Luke while following the trial.

When I reached Luke, he was wearing a prince costume and a crown to match. "I'll admit. I am surprise. I didn't expect you to go all out of the costume." I slightly giggled and the end. "Well, I'm full of surprises. Oh! If you're wondering about the petal trail, I was out of roses. So, I improvised." Luke said while pointing at the petals. So that's why! "Now, Let's act out the story 'The Rose Prince.' Shall we?" He extends his hand and I took it. Then, we acted the first scene of the story.

For the rest of the day, we've acted the story accordingly to the story. But... With a few twists. It was fun! Acting out a childhood story of mine with my best friend, is something I dreamt about ever since. I was really happy on that day. Hope to do it again soon...
