When we walked into the diner all eyes turned to us, I froze on the spot but Ashely wasn't seemed to be fazed by all the eyes and just pulled me further into the diner until we sat down in an open booth. Not long after that a waitress came up, introduced herself as Mandy and handed us menus before leaving. I read through the menu and couldn't decide what to get, everything looked so good. I looked up to see Ashely completely engrossed in the menu, she hadn't had this much options in food for a long time, we both haven't had this many options in a long time. When the waitress came back to the table I knew that I had to make a choice of what I was going to get and decided on the cheeseburger with a milkshake, Ashely eyes me as I was giving my order and I knew she had just changed her order to what I was having.

"I'll have the same, thanks." I was right, again, she was so easy to read sometimes.

"Those will be out in a few minutes, if you need anything else just holler." Mandy, our server told us.

"Thanks." I told her and watched her walk back behind the counter.

We talked about what we were going to do with the house while we waited for our food to arrive. Discussing what we wanted to plant in the greenhouse and how we wanted to decorate the house. Before I knew it our food was placed in front of us and we thanked her before digging into our food. When I bit into the burger I wanted to moan, that was one of the best burgers I've ever had and I couldn't seem to get enough of it. I hadn't notice that people were starting to stare at me until Ashely cleared her throat and raised her eyebrows at me. I shrugged and went back to eating my food, not caring that everyone in the diner was still staring at me. By the time we had finished our dinner I couldn't even think about anything else but what they had on their dessert menu, and I wasn't disappointed. I decided to have their world famous chocolate cake while Ashley had their white chocolate cheesecake.

"This is the best thing I've had in years." Ashley moaned as she took the first bite of her food.

"I know what you mean, this cake is so good. I think I could live here." I whispered to her and finished off the cake on my plate.

I paid with cash and left a generous tip for Mandy before heading back to the truck, the sun had set when we were eating dinner and now it was dark, and I mean dark. I could barely see my hands in front of my face, didn't these people ever hear of streetlamps, or was that just a city thing. We managed to get to the truck without incident and when we got into the truck I noticed how cold it really was when I felt the steering wheel. I hissed when my fingers touched the cold leather and in that moment I wished that I put out the extra money for the heated steering wheel. Ashely cranked the heat the moment she was settled in to her seat before turning to look at me with a large smile plastered on her face.

"What's got you so happy?" I asked her, and couldn't help but smile myself.

"Well, besides that meal, we made it. We are here, what else could you ask for?" She asked me, before settling back in her seat and closing her eyes.

As I started to drive down the only road that this town had I started to feel eyes on me once again and couldn't help but increase my speed in an effort to get home faster. The road was pitch black, there was no lighting along the road besides my headlights and I didn't really like that it was the only thing lighting the road for me. Suddenly out of the corner of my eye I noticed movement, I couldn't tell what it was but I knew for sure that it was something coming up on me fast. Deciding to ignore what was running along side of the truck was the hardest thing I've ever done, but I knew it had to be done because I wasn't going to get myself in an accident from watching whatever animal was following me, I could only hope that whatever it was left before we made it home. Pulling into the driveway I waited a few minutes until I could be certain that whatever was following me had left before I shut the truck off and woke Ashely.
