JJ's pov
Briefing the team gets repetitive after awhile. She or Garcia starts the process with the leads, body count, dates and crime scenes photos that they have so far, and they go from there. Spence chips in with a weird bit of info, or a unusual fact about unsubs in December, and Hotch wears the usually tough guy face, and "wheels up in 30".
However, today wasn't the typical briefing. For one, JJ was late. She was never late, she was usually on time.
Spence, of course, took notice.
"JJ you are 6 minutes, 54 seconds late. What were you doing ? I thought I set that pre- 5 minute alarm for you before the actual 5 minute alarm," he couldn't help but burst out, as JJ set up the monitor.
JJ (discreetly as she could) forced a smile and stared daggers at Reid. A shut your mouth or I will chop your hair off again look.
"Sorry everyone, just got held up in the line for coffee," she gestured to the cup in front of her (she hadn't been able to smoothly slide it over to Emily yet) , all while giving Reid the look.
"You know, statistically speaking, you should have only taken 1 minute and 42 seconds for one cup of coffee, but since it seemed to be longer, you must have making a different type of coffee then your usual-"
"-And let's get back to the case!",She said loudly over Reid's spiel.
Derek and Rossi shared amused glances across the table, while Emily and Hotch watched the conversation with twinkling eyes. JJ threw Penelope a pleading look.
Penelope took the cue and stood up next to JJ and started the briefing with her.
"Okay my loves, this is a doozy. 17 year old Michelle Bauer and 18 year old Ariana Medici were found floating across the blue river in Riverton, Montana* earlier this week. Both girls with strangled-"
"Looks like they were asphyxiated,"
Reid murmured, staring intently at the screen.
"- okay, asphyxiated Einstein. Body examination revealed they were
Partly asphyxiated, but post mortem examination revealed a whole new heebie-geebie thing. Michelle's and Ariana's arms were- well they were- okay, just look for yourself," Penelope said, shielding her eyes from the slide she just clicked.
The screen changed slides, and showed a very gruesome set of images.
"So , their arms were sliced jaggedly to slowly have them bleed out, and then their arms were sewn together?," Rossi exclaimed.
"Yes sir, you are correct. The full evaluation of the body revealed blunt force trauma to the back of the heads of the victims to stun them, and then the Unsub sliced their arms open and sewed the two girls arms together. Since they slowly died from the blood loss, the Unsub. finished the job off, with strangulation. Penelope grimaced.
"Unfortunately, these aren't the first victims. Two best friends, 18 year old Jessie James and 17 year old Quincey Rollins were found the same way, 2 weeks ago, both floating in the Blaue river." Garcia finished.
The team looked at each other, and began to put together a profile.

"Alright, notify the Riverton police that we'll be there ASAP. Wheels up in thirty." Hotch said sharply.
The team gathered their stuff, and went to their desks to get their go-bags.
JJ scooped her stuff up, and sighed unhappily, looking at the now cold coffee she made for Emily. She dumped it out and tossed it in the recycle.
Lost in thought, she began to wander back to her desk to grab her go bag. Her go bag was wedged under her desk, and stuck. JJ groaned, this really isn't what she wanted to do right now. She got down on her hands and knees, and fit under her desk to grab her bag.
"Hey Jayje!" A voice exclaimed, making JJ jump and bang her head on her desk . JJ crawled out, holding her head and looked up at the speaker. Of course it was Emily.
"Oh hey emily," she said, grimacing.
"Hey, do you want to sit next to me on the plane today, we can review the case and maybe play scrabble ?" Emily said , hope in her eyes.
JJ's heart fluttered.
"Yes , yes of course!" JJ stammered out, wincing at her overexcitement.
"Okay, see you on the plane Jayje," Emily said, squeezing JJ's shoulder as she walked away.
JJ easily unhooked her go bag, with a smile on her face. Her heart seemed to had grown wings, and was soaring.
