Brendon's POV
"You what?" I ask Spencer. He just smiles wildly. "Let me get this straight. You sent in some of our recorded songs to Pete Wentz, from fucking Fall Out Boy, and he said that we wanted to come here and watch us practice?" I say. I can't believe he did this!
"Yes, I did," I say. We jump up and hug. This is the best day ever. We might get a record deal. We pull apart and run down stairs. My mom and dad look at us with worried expression.
"Please tell me you didn't get Sarah pregnant," my mom says. My dad starts cracking up the same time Spence does.
"I don't think she's that desperate," my dad tells my dad. Well that didn't hurt at all. He shrugs.
"Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy wants to come here to Forest, and listen to us practice. Spence sent from him some of our music and he liked it. He said that if we sound like we do on tap, we might have a chance at a record deal with Fueled by Ramen. This could be our start," I tell them. Spence is still smiling like a five year old in a candy store. My mom and dad look excited for us.
"Oh, my gosh. That's amazing," she says. ×××
"She paints her fingers with a close precision
He starts to notice empty bottles of gin, And takes a moment to assess the sin
She's paid for. A lonely speaker in a conversation
Her words are swimming through his ears again
There's nothing wrong with just a taste of what you've paid for. Say what you mean
Tell me I'm right, and let the sun rain down on me. Give me a sign, I want to believe. Woah, Mona Lisa, you're guaranteed to run this town
Woah, Mona Lisa, I'd pay to see you frown. He senses something, call it desperation. Another dollar, another day and if she had the proper words to say, she would tell him, but she'd have nothing left to sell him.
Say what you mean, tell me I'm right, and let the sun rain down on me. Give me a sign, I want to believe. Woah, Mona Lisa, you're guaranteed to run this town
Woah, Mona Lisa, I'd pay to see you frown. Mona Lisa, yeah. Pleased to please you
Mona Lisa. Say what you mean, tell me I'm right
And let the sun rain down on me. Give me a sign. I want to believe. Woah, Mona Lisa,
You're guaranteed to run this town. Woah, Mona Lisa,
I'd pay to see you frown. Say what you mean. Tell me I'm right, and let the sun rain down on me. Give me a sign
I want to believe. There's nothing wrong with just a taste of what you've paid for."
I exhale a deep breath after singing that. I'm surprised that even though I'm singing in front of Pete Wentz and I'm not nervous. He stands up with a grin on his face.
"I'm definitely gonna make something happen for you guys," Pete says. Spencer and I smile. This is awesome. "We'll send you the contract and you guys decide from there. Thanks for letting me listen." We just landed ourselves a record deal!
