In a world of darkness one girl will bring peace among enemies at the cost of the blood from one of all kinds

Ayana's pov

Darkness is the only thing I wake to. It keeps me safe from those who hunt me during the daylight. It was unnatural at first, but I got used to travelling alongside darkness herself.

I had to get supplies,  night was my only friend at that time and she was only loyal for so long. I trusted nobody as anyone could be my enemy, myself included. I could have made one mistake and it would have messed it up big time, that is what I know for definite.

Food, that was something I needed to get before anything else. It was a priority for anyone. I couldn't live without food, even though I am not human. But that one night changed everything that I knew... If only I hadn't taken the opportunity then perhaps everyone I had met didn't end up in my personal war.

But I decided to get clean clothing first, which was a challenge on it's own but it became harder when I met him. The street soldier of this broken world. He looked for anyone that was "in-human" such as witches. I was sure that nobody was there, but he seemed to come from the shadows. My own friend had betrayed me.

"Hey... You're gonna have to come with me," he said "I am Frank, leader of the youth department or as we are more commonly known as street soldiers." He had a noticeable bulge in his right pocket. A gun which I knew all to well he would use if I refused.

"Ok... Frank," I spat at my enemy "but tell me this, are the institute leaders gonna kill me or cut off my wings?" I said indicating to my silver wings that rested upon my back, knowing the rumours of how the higher ups used things that they cannot get without  those who are not human to help.

"Chances are, they wont do either considering the situation... the higher ups have been begging for a female angel for years. They wont hurt you, considering the situation" the boy responded dully

"Situation?" I questioned, knowing that he wasn't going to answer.

"You'll find out, now come on. This will get me a pay rise and you will find happiness. Please, I don't want to hurt you. In this broken world of nightmares and war, we should fight alongside each other and not against each other. Ever since the bomb there has been nothing but argue and dispute. The higher ups are trying to solve it but we can't. There is a prophecy that tells us of a girl who will unite all but at the expense of others lives." Frank added "We need the blood all one of each kind spilled for peace. A horrid sacrifice, but definitely a worthy one"

We walked for a while and he told me some of the things he was being taught. I didn't listen, pondering what he had said. He said that I would find happiness... but how can I find happiness when I am forced to be happy?

I guess I had to find out no matter what.
