Nancy's Point of View
Since I was leaving right after, I decided to follow him. See where he was going. Because it wasn't the dorm rooms.
At the dance the other Joiniors had treated him like a play toy. Beating him up. He left with a deep, bleeding cut across his face, in a X, a few across his arms, and then a bloody nose and a black eye. I wouldn't blame him if was going to cry somewhere. It was stupid. Sure, I picked on him in 6th grade. But not like pysically. It was more like calling him stupid or idiot. Pretty much just that. Then high school, and it got worse. I had never forgotten how he only had one friend after he was expelled. Because he had no idea about the water fountain, and I decided to just let it go. I mean I would go cry somewhere. I would be hurt. I know a lot was cut out of the video. Probably for a good reason. Percy had gotten a lot smarter in the past 5 years. He was more secretive, also.
He went to the ocean.
Why the ocean?"
From here if you looked to the city, Empire was a clear shot, so was the Strawberry fields. I saw Percy smile at those two places, and sit down in the sand, and stuck his hand in the ocean water with a bloody hand. I thought he would shreak. It was salt water. That would burn your skin.
No.
He just closed his eyes as the water traveled across his body, taking the blood away. The bloody nose, black eye, scrates to scars, everything healed.
From water.
He took out a pen, and took off the cap, and something really weird happened.
It turned into a sword.
That's. . . scary.
Percy caught me.
" How does that pen work?" I asked Percy.
" It writes," Percy told me.
" It's a freaking sword," I told Percy..
" Then you fight with it," Percy told me," If you tell anyone else about it, either Bruner or me will have to do something with you. Either wash your memory or kill you or hurt you."
" Nice to know," I told Percy," But those people were jerks. Don't listen to them."
" I've delt with it many times before," Percy told me," I know not to listen to them. I just can't kill these ones."
" You're a murderer"
" Correction," Percy told me," I fought in war. I led both of them. Sort of have to kill in that. Not unless I wanted to end up dead."
" That would just suck, though," I told Percy," And be boring. Do you believe in life after death, though?"
" Yeah," Percy told me," I do. I think of it like the myths Bruner teaches. After die, you go somewhere, you're set somewhere, and you're there for a while depending on your life before you die."
" Like in the Greek and Roman myths," I said," Yeah, it would be one hellava life if that was real and you were stuck in it."
Percy wouldn't respond, and that scared me. He just put away the sword as a pen.
" Yeah," Percy said after a moment, agreeing with me.
" You okay?" I asked Percy," You seem more different than last time I knew you. Not just like how you lok. How you act. Scared, secretive, almost. Not really answering much of your life, either. Did you mom die or something?"
" No," Percy told me, almost choking," The exact opposite, actually."
" What?" I asked Percy," I swear I won't tell."
