Ki's heels clicked against the wood floors of the pack house. She clung onto Joey's arm, praying that she wouldn't fall and embarrass herself. As they passed through the living room, everyone turned to look at the newly formed couple. Joey turned to Ki and smiled, proud to have her on his arm. Ki swallowed the spit building up in her mouth, diverting her gaze and focusing on getting out of the spot light. She could feel Joey's muscles move against her as they walked. Finally, they reached the door and walked out into the sun. Ki let out a sigh of relief as she felt the warmth wash over her. They walked to the road, approaching the cars parked there. As Ki's feet hit the dirt, she dug the balls of her feet into it. She smiled a little at the smell of the dirt. While the pack house was feeling more like home everyday, she always felt the most comfortable in nature. Joey let out a small chuckle, watching Ki. He led her over to the passenger seat of a red car. He opened the door for her and gestured for her to get in. Ki slid into the seat, careful not to accidentally flash him with how short the skirt was. When she sat comfortably, Joey closed the door and walked around to the other side. He quickly slid in and turned on the car.
"So, where are we going?" Ki asked, curious.
"I thought we could get dinner. Simple, but I think it'll be the most natural way for us to get to know each other, you know?"
"I suppose."
"Forced to sit at the same table and be polite. Forced to converse for at least an hour," Joey said light heartedly.
"Well, I hope I don't bore you."
"Not possible," Joey reassured, pulling away from the pack house.
Joey and Ki both smiled as they saw street lights pop up in the distance. Joey was always interested in being around humans and loved his time in their cities. Ki, however, was glad to return to some sort of normalcy, even if her life as a human wasn't her true version of normalcy. They could both smell the pollution in the air thicken as they drove closer.
"Joey, this is where I used to live!"
"Oh? Really?" Joey smiled, staring straight ahead.
The stars began disappearing from sight as they were finally driving on an asphalt road in Terning Hills. Not knowing why, Ki couldn't suppress the happiness she felt being back. She looked out the window watching houses and stored pass away. Joey glanced over at her every chance he got. He had never been so grateful to have found his mate.
"Joey, 5 points to you," Ki joked.
"Yes! I've actually done something right for once," he laughed.
"Do you know the restaurant Ojiya?"
"I love that place! They have amazing Japanese food," Ki said excitedly turning to him.
"Well, that's good because that's where we're going."
"You know what?"
"What?"
"I think you're going to make a very good boyfriend- or um, mate?"
Joey laughed, "Both are correct, but I'd suggest using boyfriend out here."
"Right..."
Joey pulled into the parking lot. There were cars in every spot, as usual. Joey drove around for a while before locking his eyes onto a family walking nearby. He drove up to them and rolled down the window.
"Are you guys leaving?"
"Yeah."
"Awesome, thanks."
Joey slowly drove behind them until they reached their car. He waited for them to get and and pull out of the space. He quickly turned into the parking space and turned off the engine. He reached over and unbuckled Ki's seat belt before undoing his own.
